A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING TO STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA PERMISSION TO INSTALL A CERTAIN 24" WELDED STEEL SALT WATER RETURN PIPE LINE IN SANTA MONICA BAY AT EL S EGUNDO, CALIFORNIA. WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Council a communication in words and figures as follows: "STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA Room 503 - Standard Oil Building Los Angeles, Cal. April 27, 1943 Plancor 1593 24" Salt ?later Return Line Butadiene Plant, El Segundo "Honorable City Council City of E1 Segundo City Hall E1 Segundo, California Gentlemen: "Application has been made to the United States Engineer Office for its approval to the installation of a 24 inch welded steel salt water return pipe line in Santa Monica Bay, at E1 Segundo, California, as shown on the attached 2 prints of Drawing SE-31331 -0. The purpose of this pipe line is to return salt water from a Butadiene Plant that is now being constructed on this Company's El Segundo Refinery property for and in behalf of the Defense Plant Corporation. Application has also been made to the State of California for this facility. "Please consider this letter a formal applica- tion to the City of E1 Segundo for approval in so far as Its interests are concerned in this installation. "Application is being made in the name of Standard Oil Company of California, but facilities are being acquired for Defense Plant Corporation and assign- ment may be later made to said Corporation. Vie would appreciate it if in your approval you would provide for the assignment to said Defense Plant Corporation when desired. Yours very truly, STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA By: D. B. McHenry DIS -j Superintendent of Right of Way " encl. 1- together with the drawing therein referred to; AND, WHEREAS, this Council has duly considered the application made by said Standard Oil Company of California in its said communication of April 27, 1943, and is disposed to grant the permit so applied for in response to said application; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare, de- termine and order as follows: SECTION 1. That the said communication above quoted, together with the drawing therein referred to, be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City for the purposes of identification an(: reference, end said communication and said drawing attached to the same are hereby referred to Hnd by this reference expressly incor- porated herein and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That said City Council does hereby approve the said application of said Standard Oil Company of California, acting for and on behalf of the Defense Plant Corporation of the United States of America, and does hereby grant to said Standard 011 Company of California, acting for and on behalf of said Defense Plant Corporation of the United States of America, insofar as the interests of said City of E1 Segundo are concerned, full right, authority and permission to install a 24 inch welded steel salt water return pipe line in Santa Monica Bay, at E1 Segundo, as shown on the drawing SE- 31331 -0, attached to said communication of April 270 1943, above quoted, and on file as aforesaid, with full authority to maintain and use the same insofar as said City is concerned. SECTION 3. That said City of E1 Segundo does hereby consent to the assignment of this permit by said Standard Oil Company of California to said Defense Plant 2- Corporation, at any time, under the right, aut'ority and permission hereinabove granted, without further consent from said City or the City Council thereof. SECTION 4. That the City Council in granting this right, authority and permission does hereby find and determine that the granting thereof will not be adverse to the interests of said City, but, on the contrary, will be of benefit to said City and of material assistance to the United States of America in its all - outwar effort. SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall issue to said Standard Gil Company of California, acting for and on behalf of said Defense Plant Corporation, a certified copy of this resolution, and such certified copy so issued to such per- mittee shall be and constitute the permit herein authorized and granted, and said Clerk shall likewise deliver such additional certified copies thereof as said permittee or Defense Plant Corporation may from time to time require. SECTION 6. That said permittee is requested to direct a communication to this Council evidencing its accept- ance of the permit, authority and permission hereby granted, so that the record of said transaction may be complete In the City files. SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of said City and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof In the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. D., 1943, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Love; NOES: Councilmen None; ABSENT: Councilman Peterson.
