", PASSED AND ADCPTED ON THE 23RD DAY OF DECE'MBE'R, 1942, BY AMENDING SUBDIVISION 5 RELATING TO THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT,AND SUBDIVISION 11 RELATING TO THE "ATM DEPARTMENT, OF THE SCHEDULE OF 001,IPENSATION FOR THE VARIOUS OFFICERS, DEPARTMEN- HEADS AND EMPLOYEE, °, OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUPiDO, CALIFORNIA, .4..I BY ADDING A NEW SUBDIVISION TO SAID SCHEDULE TO BE DESIGNATED AS SUBDIVISION 16 RELATING TO CIVILIAN DEFENSE. The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That Subdivision 5, LEGAL DEPARTMENT, of the "Schedule of Compensation for the Various Officers, Department Heads and Employees of the City of El SeEundo, California" , set forth in Section 1 of Resolution ido. 635, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL 0" THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING :AND ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OR PAY OF VARIOUS MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY, AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS AND PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS IN CONFLICT THERE',JITH. ", 1 passed and adopted on the 23rd day of December, 1942, shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "Subdivision 5. LEGAL DE2ARTMEN T: A. The City Attorney shall receive, and there shall be paid to him as a monthly retaining fee, or salary, the sum of w135.00 per month, and he shall receive and there shall be paid to him in addition thereto, such reasonable additional fees or compensation as the Council may allow for suits, actions, appearances or proceedings before any Court, Board, Tribunal, Officer or Commission in which, or before whom or which, he has been authorized or directed by the Council to act or appear; end also vhen alloved by the Council, extra compensation for bond issues of all kinds and for any other service or services which the Council may deem extraordinary. B. The City Attorney shall be and he is hereby authorized end empowered to employ such steno - .raphic and clerical assistance or service, and also such assistance for the service of process, as may be necessary in the proper and expeditious discharge of the duties of his office. The reasonable costs of and charges for the same shall be a charEe e,ainst and be paid by said City." SECTION 2. That Subdivision 11 of said "Schedule of Compensation for the Various Officers, Department Heads and Employees of the City of , Segundo, California ", set forth in said Section 1 of said Resolution No. 635, shall be and the same is rereby amended to read as follows: 2- "Subdivision 11. WATER DEPARTMENT: A. The ?%'ater Department Superintendent, as such, shall receive the sum of w100.00 per month, and in addition thereto shall receive the use of the dwelling house located at No. 805 East Grand Avenue, in the City of E1 Segundo, California, and free water service thereto, which said premises for accounting purposes are hereby determined to have a rental value of 25.00 per month, including water. The occupant of said premises, however, must pay all other public utility charges, excepting only telephone exchange services, which the City will continue to maintain at said premises in the same manner es the City has heretofore maintained and paid for same. B. The Assistant 'eater Superintendent shall receive nothing as such. C. Water Department Foremen shall receive the sum of X205.00 each, per month, without right, however, to additional compensation for over —time service required to be rendered under the provisions of Paragraphs "G" and "H" of Section 3 of this resolution. D. Service men shall receive the sum of ;11165.00 per month each. E. Operators of the Treatment Plant shall receive the sum of „165.00 per month each. F. Utility mien of the "later Department shall receive the sum of ,- ?7.60 per day each, for each day of service." 3— SECTION 3. That a new subdivision, to be known and designated as "F ubdivision 16. CIVILIrua DEFENSE DEPARTMENT ", shall be and the same is hereby added to said "Schedule of Compensation for the Various Officers, Depart- ment Heads and Employees of the City of E1 Segundo, Cali- fornia", set forth in said Section 1 of said Resolution No. 635, and which said new Subdivision 16 shall read as follows, to -wit: "Subdivision 16. CIVILIAN DEFENSE DEPARTMEPIT: The Coordinator of Civilian Defense, of which said position Victor D. ,.cCarthy is now the encumbent, and hereby confirmed as such by this Council, shall receive the sum of 4Y25.00 per month as such." SECTION 4. That said Resolution said "`chedule of Compensation for the Va Department Heads and Fzngloyees of the City California ", therein set forth, are hereby hereinabove in Sections 13 2 and 3 of this forth. No. 635 end the rious Officers, of El Segundo, amended as resolution set SECTION 5. That this resolution and the amendments and aU_ditions hereinabove provided for, shall take effect at midnight on the 15th day of March, 1943, and shall thereafter continue in full force and virtue until the further order of the City Council of said City. SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the orioiral of the same to be entered in the book of re- solutions of the said City of E1 Se .-undo, and shall make a minute of the passage end adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. 10 Passed, approved and adopted this 10th day of March, A.
