A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
RESOLUTION N0, 475 OF SAID CITY, ENTITLED:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND
ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OR PAY OF
VARIOUS MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
OF SAID CITY, AND REPE11iLING ALL RESOLUTIONS
AND ORDERS AND PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS AND
ORDERS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.", PASSED AND
ADOPTED ON THE 28TH DAY OF JUNE, 19390 AS
AMENDED TO DATE, BY AMENDING SUBDIVISION "H"
OF THE "RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO
HOURS OF SERVICE" CONTAINED IN SECTION 3
OF SAID RESOLUTION NO. 475, AS AMENDED.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That effective immediately, Subdivision
"H" of the "Rules and Regulations Relating to Hours of Service",
set forth in Section 3 of Resolution No. 475, entitled:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO$ CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND
ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OR PAY OF
VARIOUS MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
OF SAID CITY, AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS
AND OitDERS AND PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS AND
ORDERS IN CONFLICT THERF:NITH.",
passed and adopted on the 28th day of June, 1939, as amended
to date, shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to
read as follows:
"H. Any employee subject to the rule of nine
days' employment in any two weeks period hereinabove
referred to, who is required to put in more time f

under the provisions of Subdivision 'G' of these
rules and regulations, shall receive for any such
required over -time service, compensation at one
and one -half times his or her regular rate of pay.
"It is provided, however, notwithstanding any-
thing contained in these rules and regulations to
the contrary:
"1. That any employee, with the approval of
the head of his or her department, may render
voluntary substitute service for any other employee,
or voluntary special service, in either of which cases
only the regular rate of pay applicable to the position
or employment for which such voluntary substitute or
voluntary special service is rendered, shall be paid
such employee so rendering such voluntary substitute or volun-
tary special service; provided that if such service is
for a longer period than two days in any fifteen day
period, the consent of Council shall be first obtained
thereto. Except in the instances provided for and re-
ferred to in Sections 4 and 5 of this resolution adopt-
ing these rules and regulations (as same now exist or
may hereafter be amended), no compensation for the period
duffing which such voluntary substitute service is so
rendered shall be paid to any employee for whom any such
voluntary substitute service is rendered.
112. Any member of the Police Department on
regular duty may be called upon to render more than
eight hours' service on any regularly scheduled
shift. In the event such required over -time service
or any such shift does not exceed two hours, no
additional compensation shall be paid such member.
However, if such member is required to render more
than two hours' over -time service on any such shift,

then and in all such cases such member or members
shall be entitled to receive compensation for all
over -time spent on such shift in excess of nis or
her regular shift of eight hours, at the rate of
one and one -half times his or her regular rate of
pay."
SECTION 2. That said Resolution No. 475, as
amended to date, is hereby amended as hereinabove in
Section 1 of this resolution set forth.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall
cause the original of the same to be entered in the book
of resolutions of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall
make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the
records of the proceedings of the City Council of said
City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted.
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take
effect immediately.

City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all
at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the
14th day of May, A.D; 1941, and that the same was
