RESOLUTION NO. 529
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
AWARDING TO EASTSIDE BUILDING MATERIALS
CO., INC. THE CONTRACT OR ORDER FOR
FURNISHING SAID CITY WITH CERTAIN
MATERIALS FOR USE IN CONNECTION WITH
THE PUBLIC LIBRARY BUILDING FOR THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1
Segundo, California, did heretofore in the manner provided
by law, duly and regularly advertise for bids for furnish-
ing said City with certain materials for use in connection
with the construction of the public library building;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time for opening and con-
sidering all of said bids, to -wit: the hour of 7 :15 o'clock
-D. m. on Wednesday, the 6th day of November, A. D., 1940,
said Council did publicly open, examine and declare all
bids received;
AND, WHEREAS, at said hour said Council did take
all of said bids under advisement until the hour of 4:20
o'clock p. m. on Friday, the 8th day of November, A. D.,
1940, at an adjourned regular meeting of said Council;
AND, WHEREAS, at said last mentioned time, said
Council did take certain items of said bids(including
Item #5, of List No. 1) under further advisement until the
hour of 7:15 o'clock p. m. on Wednesday, the 13th day of
November, A. D., 1940.
AND, WHEREAS, said last mentioned time has now
arrived and said Council has reached its decision in the
said matter;

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows:
SECTION 1. That that certain portion of the bid
of EASTSIDE BUILDING MATERIALS CO., INC., of Los Angeles,
California, for Item g#5 of List No. 1, dated November 4,
1940, which said Council determines to be as follows, to -wit:

be, and the same is hereby accepted at the prices set forth
in said portion of said bid, which is now on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City, and which said bid
so on file is hereby expressly referred to and by this re-
ference incorporated herein and made a part hereof for all
further particulars, and the contract or order for furnishing
said materials under said item, is hereby awarded to said
EASTSIDE BUILDING MATERIALS CO., INC..
All of said materials are to be furnished in
conformity with the requirements of those certain plans
designated as "EL SEGUNDO PUBLIC LIBRARY ", and with
"Specifications ", as modified by the published notice in-
viting said bids, heretofore approved by the City Council
and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City,
In the City Hall thereof, and in the office of John C. Austin,
Architect, 608 Chamber of Commerce Building, Los Angeles,
California. Said Plans and Specifications, and said pub -
lished notice, are hereby referred to and by this reference
incorporated herein and made a part hereof.

SECTION 2. That all bids received for said
portion of said Item #5 of said List No. 1, with the ex-
ception of the said bid of EASTSIDE BUILDING MATERIALS
CO., INC., be and the same are hereby rejected, and the
City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to return
the checks of all unsuccessful bidders.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause
the original of the same to be entered in the book of re-
solutions of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make
a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the re-
cords of the proceedings of the City Council of said City,
in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this 13th day of
November, A. D., 1940.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City
of El Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the
whole number of members of the City Council of the said
City is five; that the foregoing resolution, being
Resolution No. 509, was passed and adopted by the said
City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said
City and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all at
a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 13th
day of November, A. D., 1940, and that the same was so
passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: C ouncilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and
Mayor Binder;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
