The City Council of the City of El Segundo, Cali-
fornia, does resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That Resolution No. 313 of the City
Council of said city, entitled:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

passed and adopted on the 27th day of February, 1935, as
amended to date, be and the same is hereb-Y amended by adding
a new section thereto to be Down and designated as "Section
8 1/2 ", and which said new section shall read as follows,
to -wit:

"�C'SOi1 3 1S /2. That in addition to the
salaries, viaEes, compensation and benefits otherwise
provided for in this resolution, each recrular employee
of the City of El SeDundo, as a part of his or her
compensation or remuneration from said City for his
or her services rendered or to be rendered, shall he
entitled to receive, and there shall be paid to him
or her during periods of physical disability by reason
of illness or sickness necessitating absence from duty
occurrinf� or arising while he or she is such an eri-
ployee of said City, for each completed year of con-
tinuous employment in the service of said City, up to
and inclading the fourth year, two weeks full salary,
and thereafter for each completed year of continuous
employment in the service of said City, three weeks
full salary or compensation; provided however, that
time allowed hereunder shall be deducted in determining
at any timo th-- ;erloc, for r'urzher benefits may
be paid. The City Council reserves the right, to be
e&ercised in its discretion, to at any time and from
time to time, at the expense o" said City and for the
isfoi�mation of said Counci', require any such employee
to appear b efore any duly 19censed physician or surgeon
selected by said Council and submit to a medical exaz-i-
nation with respect to his or her sickness or illness.
The failure or refusal o" any such employee to submit
11iinself or i 'lerself to any such examination may in the
discretion of sai<' Covnc]1 forfeit any further ri-Ms
to receive such sickness disability benefits or
compensation.
The compensation or benefits herein provided for
in this Section u 1/2 shall only be payable for the

periods of such disability .,oreina',ove referred to
for the actual period or r-eriods o£ such disability
and to the eFtent and for the time that the erployee
is entitled to receive the same, according; to the
above provisions of this said Section S 1/2.
The written report of any such physician or,
sur -eon to sair! Council may be examined by the said
Council and by the 'A ty Clerk and City Attorney of
said City, but shall otherwise be confidential;
provided, however, that the same may be introduced
ii) ovidence in any action or proceeding relating to
the subject of sickness, illness or disability of the
peraon referred to therein, and such physician or
surgeon may give testimony respecting; the subject of
such examination and the physical condition of the
employee therein referred to, and all employees of
said City accepting employment with said City, by
accepting such employment and rendering service
thereunder, do thereby automatically and accordinUly
so agree."
SECTION 2. That said Resolution No. 313, as amended
to date, is hereby amended as hereinabove in Section 1 of
this resolution set forth.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause
the original of the same to be entered in the book of
resolutions of the said City of 1U Segundo, and shall make
a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records
of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the
minutes of the meetinL, at which the same is passed and
adopted.
