RESOLUTION NO. 329
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ASCERTAINING
AND DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE
OF PER DIEM STAGES FOR EACH CRAFT OR TYPE OF
WORKMAN OR MECHANIC NEEDED TO CONSTRUCT AND
COMPIE TE TIM, EL SEGUNDO PUBLIC LIBRARY
BUILDING TO BE ERECTED '.aTHIN SAID CITY.
IMBREAS, the City of El Segundo, California,
has accepted a certain proposal made by the United States
of America to assist said City by way of grant to the extent
of $12, 600 in the constrrotion of a public library building
in and for the said City;
AND, WHER;H;AS, it is anticipated that the work of
construction of the said public library building will shortly
oommenee under proceedings hed and taken and to be taken by
the City Council of said City and by and through the Public
Storks Administration of the United States of America:
NOWS THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and
determine as follows.
SECTION 1. That said City Council has ascertained
and does hereby ascertain, declare and determine the general
prevailing rate of per diem wages within said City, being
the locality in which the work of constructing and completing
said public library building is to be performed, for each
craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the
contract for the construction and completion of the said
public library building; and that said Council has also
asoertained and does hereby ascertain, declare and determine
the general prevailing rate for legal holiday and over -time

in accordance with the following schedule and as set forth
therein, to -wit:

The rates per hour, indicated above, are based
upon the local prevailing rates per day, being eight (8)
times the above scheduled rate per hour. Hourly rates of
pay, based upon eight (8) hours per day, for a full day or
a fractional part of a day. The per diem wages for a frac-
tional part of a day shall be the applicable rate per hour
multiplied by the number of hours worked on said day other
than for over -time and/or Sundays or Legal Holidays.
The wage rate per hour for over -time work for each
of the above classifications shall be the hourly rates,
quoted above, multiplied by one and one -half (1 1/2) times
the number of hours worked by anployees in exoess of eight
(8) hours on any one calendar day other than Sundays and /or
Legal Holidays.
The wage rate per hour for work on Sundays and /or
Holidays shall be the applicable rate par hour, as scheduled

above, multipled by one and one -half (1 1/2) times the
number of hours worked by employees on Sunday and /or Holidays,
which shall be deemed to be all Sunday, January First, May
Thirtieth, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and
December Twenty - Fifth.
All foremen shall receive a wage rate which will
be teem per cent (10�o) more than the highest wage rate received
by the employees working under his supervision.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause
the original of the same to be entered in the book of re-
solutions of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records
of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the
minutes of the meeting at vhich the same is passed and adopted.
SECTION 3. That this resolution shall take effect
immediately.

Ll Segundo, California, do hereb• certify that the whole number
of members of the City Council of the said City is five; that
the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 329, was duly
passed and adopted by the City Council of the said City, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said City and attested by the City
Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
held on the 8th day of January, A. D., 1936, and that the same
was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
