RESOLUTION NO. 321.
A RESOLUTION OF TIM CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GRANTIN G
TO STANDARD OIL COLTANY OF CALIFORNIA A
CERTAIN REVOCABLE PERTLIT FOR THE INSTALLATION
OF T'�YO CERTAIN PIPE -LINES ACROSS SEPULVEDA
BOULEVARD `'.ITHIN SAID CITY.
The City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, does hereby resolve, declare and determine as
follows:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to its application
dated August 23, 1935 therefor, Standard Oil Company of
California is hereby granted, upon the terms and conditions
hereinafter set forth, permission to excavate for, install
and maintain two certain pipe -lines across Sepulveda Boule-
vard within the City of E1 Segundo, California, at a point
located 857.39 feet North of the center line of Rosecrans
Avenue, as shove on the print of dravJing No. 5E- 25176 -1.,
prepared by the Engineering Department of said permittee
and which is attached to said application, and which said
application and drawing are on file in the office of the
City Clerk of said City, hereby referred to and by this
reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That the pipe- lines, permission for
which is herein granted, are described as follows, to-wit:
One 6 inch gut line, for the purpose of conveying
hydrogen sulphide gas, to be installed inside of an
8 inch steel pipe throughout the entire distance
between terminals. This assembly at the crossing of
Sepulveda Boulevard will be installed through a 12
inch steel pipe casing for the full width of the
boulevard.

One 4 inch steel pipe -line for the purpose
of conveying black sulphuric acid. This line
likewise shall be installed through an 8 inch steel
pipe casing for the full width of the boulevard.
That this permission is granted upon the following
terms and conditions, to -wit:
First: This permit is revocable and may be
revoked by the City Council of said City at any time
upon thirty days' notice to the permittee, and upon
revocation of such permission the said lines must be
removed by the permittee if so required in the order
making such revocation.
Second: The pipe lines are to be installed and
maintained at the sole cost and expense of the per-
mittee and must be approximately 5 feet below the top
of the present pavement for the full width of the
boulevard.
Third: All excavations or work must be protected
at all times so as to avoid injury or damage to per-
sons or property in or upon said boulevard, or
immediately adjacent thereto.
Fourth; All installations must be made and the
said lines must be maintained at all times to the
satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of said City.
Fifth: That the permittee will pramptly pay to
the said City the full amount of any and all damage
which may be occasioned to any public street or public
property by reason of the installation, maintenance,
use or failure of the said pipe -lines or either of them,
or of any instrumentality used in connection therewith,
or which appertains thereto.
Sixth: The City, through the City Council thereof,
reserves the right to change the grade of said boulevard,

and in case of any such change the permittee must
conform to such changed grade without liability on
the part of said City therefor.
Seventh: That this permit is granted only
in so far as the City of E1 Segundo is lawfully
authorized to grant the same, and that in the event
any further permission is required from the State of
California or any division or department of said
State, other than said City, the same must be pro-
cured by the permittee in view of the fact that said
Sepulveda Boulevard is a State highway of the State
of California.
Eighth: Open excavations must be confined to
the shoulder areas only, and the portion under the
pavement areas must be installed by means of a bore
which will not disturb the present pavement or inter-
fere with traffic.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter
the same in the book of resolutions of the said City , and
shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in
the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said
City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted; and shall cause a certified copy there-
of to be forwarded to said permittee, which said certified
copy shall be and constitute the form of permit representing
the permission herein granted.

whole number of members of the City ]ouncil of the said
City is five; that the foregoing resolution, being
Resolution ho. 324, was duly passed and adopted by the
said City Council, approved and sided by the Mayor of
said City and attested by the City Clerk of said City,
all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on
the 11th day of September, A. D., 1935, and that the same
was so passed and aaopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby, Love and i:ayor
Binder;
Noes: Councilmen None;
Absent: Councilmen None.
