A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUIICIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORTIA, A17ARDING A
CONTRACT TO INGLLMOOD HUMANE SOCIETY, INC.,
FOR FURNISHING PUBLIC POUND SERVICE, INCLUD-
ING THE FURNISHING OF A PUBLIC POUND AIM
PERFOMIING THE DUTIES OF POUND MASTER IN
AND FOR SAID CITY "OR A PERIOD OF ONE Yr.AR,
BEGINNING JULY 1, 1935.
I'MREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
Califomia, has heretofore in the manner provided by law, duly
and regularly advertised for bids for furnishing public pound
service including the furnishing of a public pound and per-
forming the duties of pound master in and for the said City
of El Segundo, as provided for in Ordinance No. 188 thereof;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time for opening and con-
sidering all of said bids, to -vrit: the hour of 7:15 o'clock
P. M. on Wednesday, the 22nd day of hiay, 1935, it was found
that the bid of Inglewood Humane Society, Inc. was the only
bid received therefor, and at said time said Council did
publicly open, examine and declare said bid;
AND, 6,HEREAS, said Council has thoroughly consider-
ed said proposal and has reached its decision with reference
thereto;
NOVit THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and
determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That Item No. 2 of the said bid of Ingle-
wood Humane Society, Inc., dated the 21st day of i`ay, . D.,1935,
be, and the same is hereby accepted by said Council, on behalf

of said Oity, and said Council hereby determines said
bid or proposal to be as follows, to -wit:
"BID ON PUBLIC POUND SERVICE.
"To the Honorable City Council,
City of El Segundo,
El Segundo, California.
Gentlemen:-
The undersigned, in response to the pub-
lished "NOTICE INVITING SEALED BIDS FOR FURNISHING
PUBLIC POUND SERVICE INCLUDING THE FURNISHING OF A
PUBLIC POUND AND PERFOYMNG TM - %UTIBS OF POUND MASTER
IN AND FOR THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA ", a
printed copy of which said notice is hereunto annexed
and by this reference expressly incorporated herein and
made a part hereof, hereby respectfully proposes and
bids to furnish, at their own expense, for the period
from July 1, 1935 to and including the 30th day of June,
1936, all supervision, labor, services, paraphernalia,
equipment and apparatus and the necessary public pound
and public pound facilities (excepting only license tags)
necessary in order to promptly, properly, fully, com-
pletely and efficiently perform and discharge all acts
and duties to be performed and/or discharged by the
pound master, his deputies and assistants, according to
the provisions and requirements of and as contemplated
in the terms of Ordinance No. 188 of the City of El
Segundo, California, passed, approved and adopted on
the 19th day of April, 1933, and of said notice here-
unto attached, including the matters and things herein
set forth and /or referred to under the following pro-
position, to -wit:
Item No. 1. On the basis of a contract for
the period of one year beginning
July 1, 1935, the amount of ,; 30.00 per mo.
Item No. 2. On the basis of a contract for the
period of one year beginning July 1,
1935, ninety per cent of fees col-
lected, in lieu of a fixed sum per month.
It is understood that all license collections
are to be paid into the City Treasury of the City of E1
Segundo promptly as collected, and that the percentage
payable to the contractor under any contract awarded
hereunder shall be payable to such contractor monthly,
upon proper demands therefor made each month for the
percentage payable upon collections made during the
calendar month preceding the month in which such demand
is made.
Enclosed herewith is a cashier's check for the
sum of One Hundred Dollars (q;100.00), payable to the said
City of El Segundo, which said check shall be forbited to
said City in the event the undersigned fails or refuses
for a period of ten days after notice of award of contract
to enter into the necessary contract and furnish the
required bond.

In the event the contract be awarded to
the undersigned, the person to be named as pound master
shall be: F. L. Coburn, and Deputy C. J. Brown, or
such other person as the undersigned may nominate, in
writing, in the event of sickness or other inability
of the above named nominee to act, and the public
pound to be furnished by the undersigned will be
located at: 615 W. Hyde Park Blvd., Inglewood, Calif.
The undersigned hereby respectfully states
that in the event the oontract be awarded to the under -
signed, that resident citizens of the Jity of N1 Segundo,
Jalifornia, will, so far as reasonably possible, be
employed u -on the work contemplated to be done under
the contract above referred to, and does hereby further
consent that a clause to that effect may be incorporated
in the said contract if awarded to the undersigned.

That the pound master shall be F. L. Coburn, and
Deputy Pound I,Iaster C. J. Brown, or such other persons as
the Contractor may nominate, in writing, in the event of
sickness or other inability of the said '. L. -Coburn or said
C. J. Brown, to act, and the public pound to be furnished
by said Contractor will be located at 615 V. Hyde Park. Blvd.,
Inglewood, California.
SECEON 2. That said bid be, and the same is
hereby ordered placed on file in the office of the amity Clerk
of said City.

authorized and instructed to execute on behalf of said "ity
the necessary contract, pursuant to this award,and the Jity
dlerk is hereby authorized and instructed to attest and
deliver the same.

SECT 1017 4. That t hs City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall
oause the same to be entered in the book of resolutions
of the City Council of the Jity of cal Segundo, California,
and shall mace a minute of the passage and adoption thereof
in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of
said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same
is passed and adopted.
