CC RESOLUTION 306t, RESOLUTION NO. 306. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO INGLEWOOD HUMANE SOCIE TY, INC. FOR FURNISHING PUBLIC SERVICE, T11CLUDING THE FUM ISHING OF A PUBLIC POUND AND PERFO"MTING THE DUTIES OF POUND K&STER IN AND FOR SAID CITY FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YLAR, BEGINNING APRIL 1, 1934. MEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law, duly and regularly advertised for bids for furnish- ing public pound service including the furnishing of a public pound and performing the duties of pound master in and for the said City of El Segundo, as provided for in Ordinance No. 188 thereof; AND, 'i',HEREAS, at the time for opening and con- sidering all of said bids, to -wit: the hour of 7:00 o'clock P. M. on 4]ednesday, the 21st day of Iarch, 1934, it was found that the bid of Inglewood Humane aociety, Inc., was the only bid received therefor, and at said time said Council did publicly open, examine and declare said bid; AND, iTHEREAS, said Council has thoroughly con- sidered said proposal and has reached its decision with reference thereto; NOW1 PHEREFORE, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That the said bid of Inglewood Humane Society, Inc., dated March 21st, 1934, be and the 1- n / B same is hereby accepted by said Council, on behalf of said City, and said Council hereby determines said bid or proposal to be as follows, to -wit: "BID ON PUBLIC POUND SERVICE. "To the Honorable City Council, City of El Segundo, El Segundo, California. Gentlemen: - The undersigned, in response to the pub- lished "NOTICE. INVITING SEALED BIDS 'TOR FURNISHING PUBLIC POUND SERVICE INCLUDING TEE FURNISHING Cul A PUBLIC POUND AND PERFORIdING i�- DUTIZS OF POUND M&STER IN AND FOR TES CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA' a printed copy of which said notice is hereunto annexed and by this reference expressly incorporated herein and made a part hereof, hereby respectfully proposes and bids to furnigr, at our ovn expense, for the period from April 1st, 1934 to and including the last day of 1.1arch, 1935, all supervision, labor, ser- vices, paraphernalia, equipment and apparatus and the necessary public pound and public pound facilities (excepting only license ta,;s) necessary in order to promptly, properly, fully, completely and efficiently perform and discharge all acts and duties to be per- formed and /or discharged by the pound master, his deputies aryl assistants, according to the provisions and requirements of and as contemplated in the terms of Ordinance I.o. 188 of the City of El Segundo, Jali- fornia, passed, approved and adopted on the 19th day of April, 1933, and of said notice hereunto attached, including the matters and things herein set forth and /or referred to under the following proposition, to -wit: Item No. 1. On tha basis of a contract for the period of one year beginninP April 1, 1934, 100 per cent of fees collected, in lien of a fixed sum per month. It is understood that all license collections are to be paid into the City Treasury of the City of El Segundo promptly as collected, and that the per - centag- payable to the contractor under any contract, awarded 'hereunder shall be payable to such contractor monthly, upon proper demands therefor made each month for the percentage payable upon collections made dur- ing the calendar month preeedin; the month in which such demand is made. Enclosed herel'.1th is a cashier's check for the sum of One Hundred Dollars (,,x'100.00) payable to the said City of El Segundo which said check shall be forfeited to said Jity in the event the undersigned fails or refuses for a period of ten days after notice of award of contract to enter into the necessary con- tract and furnish the required bowl. 2- /i �" In the event the contract be awarded to the undersi geed, the person to be named as pound master shall be: Doyle V. Davidson, or such other person as the undersigned may nominate, in writing, in the event of sickness or other inability of the above named nominee to act, and the public pound to be furnished by the undersigned will be located at: 3301 Pacific Ave., Kanhattan Beach, Calif. The undersigned hereby respectfully states that in the event the contract be awarded to the under- signed, that resident citizens of the City of El Segundo, California, will, so far as reasonably possible, be employed upon the work contemplated to be done under the contract above referred to, and does hereby further consent that a clause to that effect may be incorporat- ed in the said contract if awarded to the undersigned. Davidson, or such other person as the Contractor may nominate, in writing, in the event of sickness or other inability of the said Doyle V. Davidson to act, and the public pound to be furnished by said Contractor will be located at 3301 Pacific Avenue, S.Sanhattan Beach, California. SECTION 2. That said bid be, and the same is hereby ordered placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city. S2XTION 3. That the 2iayor of said City is hereby authorized and instructed to execute on behalf of said City the necessary contract, pursuant to this award and tre City Clerk is hereby authorized and in- structed to attest and deliver the same. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall 3- L' cause the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, Cali- fornia, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
