A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY CF EL SEGUNDO, CALIEORNIA, AV4RDING
A CONTRACT TO INGLEWOOD HUMANE SOCIETY, INC.,
A CORPORATION, FOR FURNISHING PUBLIC POUND
SERVICE, INCLUDING THE FURNISHING OF A
PUBLIC POUND AND PERFORAING THE DUTIES
OF POUND VASTER IN AND FOR SAID CITY FOR
A PERIOD FROM THE DATE OF SUCH CONTRACT TO
AND INCLUDING THE 31ST DAY OF MARCH, 1934.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law,
duly and regularly advertised for bids for furnishing public
pound service including the furnishing of a public pound and
perfoxming the duties of pound master in and for the said
City of E1 Segundo, as provided for in Ordinsace No. 188
thereof;
AND, 6';HEREAS, at the time for opening and consider-
ing all of said bide, to -wit: the hour of 7;15 o *clock P. 11.
on Wednesday, the 31st day of May, 19339 it was found that
the bid of Inglewood Humane Society, Inc., was the only bid
received therefor, and at said time said Council did publicly
open, examine and declare said bid;
AND, WHEREAS, at said hour said Council did take
the said bid under advisement until the hour of 7:15 o'clock
P. M., on Wednesday, June 7th, 1933; and at said last men-
tioned hour said Council did again take the said bid under
advisement until the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. on Wednesday,
the 14th day of June, 1933;
AND, VaMREAS, at said last mentioned hour, a new
and separate proposal from said Inglewood Humane Society, Inc.,

dated the 8th day of June, 1933, was submitted to said
Council, in lieu of the one theretofore filed;
AND, WHEREAS, said Council has thoroughly con-
sidered said new proposal and has reached its decision with
reference thereto;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and
determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That the said new bid of Inglewood
Humane Society, Inc., dated June 8, 1933, be, end the same
is hereby accepted by said Council, on behalf of said
City, and said Council hereby determines said bid or
p ro po sal to be as follows, t o -wit :
"Inglewood, California,
June 8, 1933.
"To the Honorable City Council,
City of E1 Segundo, California.
Gentlemen:
Pursuant to your published "Notice Inviting
Sealed Bids for Furnishing Public Pound Service,
Including the Furnishing of a Public Pound and Per -
fomming the Duties of Pound Master in and for the
City of El Segundo, California ", the undersigned did,
on the 31st day of May, 1933, submit to your Honorable
Board, its written bid to perform the service contem-
plated and furnish the necessary equipment for a
definite payment to the undersigned of the slam of
$35.00 per month during the period of contract.
Your Connoil, as you will recall, took said
bid under advisement until last evening and again on
last evening took said bid under advisement until
Wednesday evening, June 14, 1933.
In view of the fact that our bid was the
only bid submitted and that therefore there are no
rights of intervening bidders, and since we learn
that apparently your Council would be more disposed
to look with favor upon a proposal which involved the
payment of the contract price (at least in part) in
percentage of license fees collected, the undersigned
respectfully submits that in lieu of the said bid on
file, and as a separate proposal, the undersigned
would be willing to enter into a contract with your
City, substantially as contemplated in your said
notice, for the period commencing on the date of the
execution of the contract, and ending on the 31st dW
of March, 1934, on the following basis, to -wit:

(a) A payment to the Undersigned of the sun
of $84.00 in cash, thirty (30) days after the execu-
tion and delivery of contract, and the further sum
of an amount equal to 100% of the collections for
dog licenses actually collected during the contract
period, the City to furnish the tags.
It would be understood that all license
collections must be ppaid into the City Treasury
Promptly as collected, and that the percentage
payable to the contractor would be payable monthly
during the contract period for collections made
during the preceding month.
Should the foregoing proposal meet with
your favor, we will be pleased to execute the necess-
ary contract and bond as soon as sane is submitted
to us.

That the pound master shall be Doyle V. Davidson,
or such other person as the Contractor may nominate, in
writing, in the event of sickness or other inability of
the said Doyle V. Davidson to act, and the public pound
to be furnished by said Contractor will be located at
3301 Pacific Avenue, Manhattan Beach, California.
SECTION 2. That said bid be, and the same is
hereby ordered placed on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said city.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor of said City is
hereby authorized and instructed to execute on behalf of
said City the necessary contract, pursuant to this award
and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to
attest and deliver the same.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall
cause the same to be entered in the book of resolutions
I of the City Council of the City of sal Segundo, California,

and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption
thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City
Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at
which the same is passed and adopted.
