CC RESOLUTION 266RESOLUTION NO. 266. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT OF IERTAIN OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO AND FIXING THE RATES OF COMPENSATION TO BE PAID SUCH OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT WHEREAS, under existing economic conditions the members of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, feel that the working schedules, rates of com- pensation and hours of service of various officers and employees of the said City Should be readjusted, so as to permit of a wider spread of the available municipal employment; AND WHEREAS, said Council, after due consideration, believes that the schedule hereinafter adopted will, until the further order of this Council, best most the needs of the oocaslon; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of ES Segundo, California, does hereby resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That effective on and after the 7th day of November, 1932, ani until the further order of this Council, the following working schedule and the respective rates of compensation fur the various officers and /or employees of said City hereinafter set forth or referred to, shall be and the same are hereby fixed and established and shall be observed in all particulars. SECTION 11. That the working schedule and the respective rates of compensation for various of the officers -1- and employees of said city hersinabove referred to shall be and the same are hereby fixed and established as follows: S C H E D U L E (a) POLICE DEPARTMENT- The Captain of Police shall receive the sum of $136.00 per month, payable monthly. Police Officers of the First Class shall re- oeive the sum of $127.20 per month each, payable monthly. Police Officers of the Second Class shall re- oeive the sum of $120.00 per month each, payable monthly. Police Officers of the Third Class shall reoei ve the scan of $4.96 per day each, for each day of service, payable semi - monthly. Relief Officers of the First Class shall re- ceive the sum of $72.00 per month each, payable monthly, and shall be required to serve for such compensation two days per week. Relief Officers of the Second Class shall receive the sum of $112.00 per month, payable semi- monthly, and shell be required to serve for such com- pensation four days per week. (b) FIRE DEPARTMENT- Fire Engine Drivers of the First Class shall receive the sum of $33.33 per month each, payable monthly. Fire Engine Drivers of the Second Class shall receive the sum of $26.66 per month each, payable monthly. Relief Fire Engine Drivers shall receive the sum of $16.00 per month each, payable monthly. (c) MAINTENANCE OF CITY HALL DEPARTMENT- (Under Jurisdiction of City Clerk) Janitors shall receive the sum of $66.67 per month each, payable monthly. _Z_ I �'u; I Relief Janitors shall receive the sum of $32.00 per month each, payable monthly. (d) SEWER ZLPARTMENT- Sewer Tenders of the First Class shall receive the sun of $100.00 per month each, payable monthly. Sewer Tenders of the Second Class shall receive the sum of $4.96 par day each, for each day of service, payable semi - monthly. (e) STREET DEPARTMENT- The Assistant Street Superintendent shall receive the sum of $136.00 per month, payable monthly. The Municipal Mechanic shall receive the sum of $120.00 per month, payable monthly. Street Department Foremen of the First Class shall receive the sum of $106.40 per month, each, payable monthly. Street Department Foremen of the Second Class shall receive the sun of $6.00 per day each, for each day of servioe, payable semi- monthly. Gardeners of the First Class shall receive the sun of $6.00 per day each, Jbr each day of service, payable semi - monthly. SECTION III. That all of the various employees hereabove in Section II of this resolution set forth or re- (erred to, shall be based on a working schedule of four days per week except %here otherwise expressly noted in said Section II, in which ease the working schedules of such employees so specifically provided for shall be that herein - above not forth in said Section II. SECTION IV. That in all eases, the head of the department or municipal officer under whose jurisdiction the respective employees of said city serve, shall designate the particular days upon which such respective employees are to render service to the said city where their respective employments are not on a full time basis. SECTION V. That until the further order of this Council, the various present employees of said city affected by the prDVisions of this resolution are hereby classified in accordance with the foregoing schedule as follows: Captain of Police ---------- - - - - -- J. Miller Burgner L. Gregory SECTION VI. That after said 7th day of November, 1932, and until the further order of this Council, whenever any change is made in the existing personnel above referred to, or any new employee is employed, there shall be indicated in the resolu- tion or order providing for such change or new employment the -4� ICto <' classification or title of awh new employee or of such change in employment in accordance with the schedule hereinabove provided. SECTION VII. That in the event any of the offieere or employees hereinabove mentioned or referred to, serves overtime (in excess of the schedule provided hereinebove for their respective employments), such officer or employee shall not receive compensation in money for any such overtime, but shall be entitled to a like period off duty, such off duty time to be taken as the head of the department in which such employee is employed, or officer under whose jurisdiction each employee is employed, may direct. This same regulation with reference to off time for overtime put in (in excess of their respective present regular hours of service) shall apply as well to all officers and employees of said City not herein mentioned, referred to or provided for. SECTION VIII. That the heads of the various departments of the City of El Segundo having the employment of employees upon a daily basis, are hereby requested by this Council to,so far as possible, arrange the working schedules of such employees employed upon such dally basis, so that no single employee shall receive more than four days employment in any calendar week; provided, however, that in the ease of the following employees, to -wit: C. ANGLE, D. BOYER, A. BOGAN, S. E. CAMPBELL, A. H. GREEN, W. HENRY, J. POWERS, D. RAYNOR, J. SCHOENING, and G. TURNEY, who are employed on a daily basis, this Council suggests that each of said employees should be permitted four days employment per week, in view of the long service of said respective employees to said City. SECTION IX. Nothing in this resolution contained shall be construed as in any manner affecting any officer .5. L or employee or the compensation of any officer or employee of said City not hereinabove mentioned, provided for, or referred to, in this resolution, except in the one par- ticular of off time for overtime as set forth in Section VII hereof. SECTION S. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the said City of El Segundo, affi shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the minutes of the proceedings of the City Council of said City of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
