CC RESOLUTION 237RESOLUTION N0. 237 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, GRANT PERMISSION TO THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, TO ASSUME JURISDICTION VaTH RESPECT TO, AND PROSECUTE PROCEEDINGS, FOR THE ACQUISI- TION OF CERTAIN LANDS IN ORDER TO WIDEN, AND THE I10ROVEMENT OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF THAT CERTAIN BOUNDARY LINE STREET BETWEEN SAID CITIES, DESIGNATED AND KNOM AS "IMPERIAL HIGHViAY ". The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That the City Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized and instructed to address a communication to the Honorable City Council of the City of Los Angeles, Califo mia, regaesting that said Council consent to the City of El Segundo, California, assuming jurisdiction over and prosecuting such pro- ceedings as may be necessary to cause that certain portion of Imperial Highway, a boundary line street between said two cities hereinafter referred to, to be widened and improved substantially as contemplated in the form of resolution hereinafter set forth, and to request that said Honorable City Council of said City of Los Angeles adopt a resolution in that regard, substantially in the form of the resolution hereinafter set forth, to -wit: 1- -1-442, _1443 "PRELIMINARY RESOLUTION GRANTING CONSENT of the CITY OF LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA. "WHEREAS, it is proposed by the City of E1 Segundo to improve Imperial Highway (Collingwood Street) between Main Street, E1 Segundo, and Inglewood- Redondo Boulevard, and "WHEREAS, one half of Imperial Highway (Collingwood Street) and one half of the proposed assessment district between the above mentioned limits lie within the boundaries of the City of Los Angeles, and "WHEREAS, it will be necessary to secure the consent of the governing body of the City of Los Angeles before any proceedings can be instituted; "N0W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 1. That the public interest and necessity require the improvement of Imperial Highway (Collingwood Street) between Main Street, E1 Segundo, and Inglewood- Redondo Boulevard; 2. That preliminary consent of this Council is hereby given to the widening of said Imperial Highway and. particularly to those portions of Imperial Highway lying within the boundaries of the City of Los Angeles by acquiring such lands on the northerly side of the said existing highway to attain a total width for said thoroughfare of sixty (60) feet, said widening to be obtained by deed or dedication wherever possible; 3. That preliminary consent of this Council is hereby given to the improvement of the central thirty (30) feet of Imperial Highway so widened between the above mentioned limits by the construc- tion of thirty (30) feet of six (61) inch bitumuls full penetration pavement and such other work as may be necessary to consummate the same; 4. That this Council hereby finds and determines that certain lands to be included within the boundar- ies of the proposed assessment district, lying within the boundaries of the City of Los Angeles, as indicated on map attached, will be benefited by said proposed improvement and hereby consents to the inclusion of such lands within the proposed assessment district and to the assessment therefor of the property within; 5. That the consent of this Council is hereby given to the commencement of a proceeding by the legis- lative body of the City of E1 Segundo and the exercis- ing of exclusive jurisdiction of said legislative body ov -er all proceedings necessary thereto for the purpose of consummating the saus." 2- "I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was adopted by a vote of the City Council of the City of os Angeles at its meeting he 1 d on this day o f 1930. City Clerk of e City of Los Angeles, California, " SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the same to be entered in the Book of Resolutions of said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make a minute of the adoption thereof in the records of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall cause a copy thereof with his said communication, to be transmitted to the said City Council of the City of Los Angeles, Cali fo mia. D., 1930, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Binder and Selby.
