CC RESOLUTION 1831231%; a RESOLUTION NO. 183 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING CERTAIN "SPECIFICATIONS FOR REMOVAL OF CHURCH BUILDING ACQUIRED BY SAID CITY ". BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, that the following specificsa- tions, being and to be known as "SPECIFICATIONS FOR REMOVAL OF CHURCH BUILDING ACQUIRED BY SAID CITY ", be and the same are hereby adopted and ordered filed in t$e office of the City Clerk of said city. SECTION 1. The work to be done under these specifications shall include the furnishing of all labor, material and equipment necessary for or appurtenant to, the removal, moving and placing upon new foundation, approximately three feet in height, and repair of any damage occasioned in the removal of, that certain one story frame church building known as First Methodist Episcopal Church of E1 Segundo, California, from the north- east oorner of Main Street and Mariposa Avenue where the same is now located, to Lots 21 and 22, Block 57, said lots being on the westerly aide of Richmond Street between Holly Avenue and Pine Avenue within the said city, in accordance with Ordinanose Nos. 28 and 70 of the City of E1 Segundo, California, The Contractor's attention is hereby called to the fact that the basement of this building is not to be moved, but is to be razed to the ground, and the material piled in such a manner as to facilitate its removal by the City Of E1 Segundo. The work shall be done in a thorough workmanlike manner to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent 1- and Building Inspector of the City of E1 Segundo. SECTION 2. Bidders must examine and judge for themselves as to the location and surroundings of the Proposed work, the nature of the work and the work to be done. SECTION 3. The City Engineer will stake out the foundation and the Contractor shall give twenty -four (24) hours' notice in writing when he will require the services of the City Engineer for laying out any portion of the work, and shall dig all holes necessary for line and grade stakes. SECTION 4. The Contractor shall employ none but competent foremen, laborers and mechanics. In the absence of the Contractor from the work, whether permanent or temporary, he must provide and leave a competent and reliable agent or foreman in charge. All notices, communications, orders or instruc- tions given or sent to or served upon such agent or foreman shall be considered as having been served upon the Contractor. SECTION 5. The Contractor shall reset all street signs disturbed by him during the progress of the work. SECTION 6. The Contractor shall remove trees where the moving of building requires their removal. The Contractor will also remove all stone, debris or other obstructions of whatever kind or character, either natural or artificial, encountered in the moving and planing of building. SECTION 7, The Contractor shall observe all the ordinances of the City of E1 Segundo in relation to the obstruction of streets, keeping the passageways open and protecting the same where they are dangerous to travel. SECTION 8. The Contractor shall take all necessary measures to protect the work and prevent accidents. He shall provide and maintain all necessary barriers, guards, watch- men and lights. 2- 41, SECTION 13. The Contractor shall repair any damage to the building incurred during the prosecution of the work and shall place the building in the same con- dition, both inside and outside, in all respects, as the same shall be in immediately prior to its actual removal. SECTION 14. The Contractor shall maintain full and unlimited compensation insurance, in accordance with the Workers Compensation Insurance and Safety Act of the State of California, with a credited insurance carrier as defined in said act, and shall file with the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo, before commencing work under, this contract, a certificate issued by said carrier that, it has issued to said contractor such compensation insur- ance, and that said insurance is in fall force and effect at the time of the signing of the contract, and that it is sufficient to protect any person dealing with said Contractor, and that said carrier will notify the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo, immediately upon the cancellation of such compensation insurance. If such insurance shall expire, or for any reason be cancelled, the Contractor shall take out new insurance of like char- acter, and file a certificate with the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo, issued by said carrier, on effecting the new insurance. SECTION 15. The successful bidder shall furnish and deliver to the City of E1 Segundo a bond in the sum of not less than twenty -five per cent of the total amount of his bid for the faithful performance of such contract, and also shall furnish and deliver a bond in the sum of not less than fifty per cent of the total amount of his bid for the perment for materials contracted for in the prose- cution of said work, and for all laborers'wages and liens which may arise therefrom; both of said bonds to be approved by the Mayor of the City of E1 Segundo as to 4" sufficiency, and by the City Attorney of said city as to form. SECTION 16. Whenever the word "City" is used in these specifications, it refers to the City of E1 Segundo, California. Whenever the word "Contractor" is used, it refers to the party or parties of the second part in the agreement for the construction of work herein specified. Whenever the words "City Engineer' are used they refer to the City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo, California, or his authorized agents or inspectors. SECTION 17. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the same to be entered in the Book of Resolutions of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
