A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE NECESSITY FOR A CENSUS OF SAID CITY; ELECTING TO TARE: SUCH A CENSUS UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, IN THE L'iAITISER PROVIDED BY THAT CERTAIN ACT OF SAID LEGISLATURE, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE ANY CITY, OR CITY AND CCUNTY OF THIS ST& E, TO TAKE 1TS CENSUS ", APPROVED FEBRUARY 25, 1897; DECLARING ITS INT.:IT210N TO CAUSE SUCH CENS M TO BE TiOLZ , AND PROVIDING FOR THE TAKING OF THE 6ALF.. WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, is desirous of taking a census of thepopulation of said city; AND, VIHI�REAS, said Board of Trustees is further desirous that the said census should be official, in the event the electors of said city should desire at any time to call an election in said city for choosing freeholders for the preparation and pro+osal of a charter for the government of said city in the manner provided by Section 8 of Artiol XI of the Constitution of the State of Cal- ifornia; AND, WHEREAS, the population of said city, as ascertained by the last preceding census, taken under the authority of the Congress of the United States of America, was 1,563 inhabitants; AND, WH_�R:EAS, said Board of Trustees uelieves that at the present time the number of inhabitants of 1. said city is in excess of 3500, as refe ied to in said Section 8 of said Article %I of said Constitution; IZI), WhERF, AS, said Board therefore deems it necessary that a census of said City of El Segundo, California, should be taken under the authority of the Legislature of the State of California, to ascertain and determine the existing population contained by said city; NOW, THEF.3FOi�2, the Board of Trustees of the city of E1 Segundo, California, do resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That the public interest, necessity and convenience of said city require, and that the Board of Trustees of said city deems it necessary to take the census of said City of Ell Segundo, California, between the years of taking the Federal census, to -wit: Said it Board of Trustees deems it necessary to take said census during the current calendar year, A. D. 1925. SECTION 2. That said Board does hereby declare its intention to cause such census to be taken by the persons hereinafter appointed therefor by said Board of Trustees. . SECTICN 3. That said Board does hereby elect to take such census under the authority of the Legislature of the State of California, in the manner provided in that certain act of said Legislature entitled "An act to authorize any City, or City and County of this State, to take its census ", approved February 25, 1897. That each of the said persons hereinabove named have volunteered his or her services in the said matter, through E1 Segundo Post No. 38, American Legion of California, and there shall therefore be no compensation payable for time spent or services rendered by any of the above n9ned persons in the taking, preparation, arrangement, submission and verification of such census; provided, however, that the Board of Trustees hereby expresses its appreciation of the high sense of civic duty and public service so exemplified. SECTION 6. In taking such census, said censustakers shall as nearly as possible ascertain and record on blanks to be provided by the City Clerk for that purpose, the following information with reference to 6t7 each inhabitant of the said city, towit: (1) The full name; (2) The address; (3) The sex; (4) The race; (5) Whether such inhabitant is a minor or adult (if a female, is under or over the age of eighteen years and if a male is under or over the age of twenty -one years); (6) The occupation. SECTION 7. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized to procure and furnish to said persons so to take such census, at the expense of said City, any and all supplies necessary in order to take, prepare and submit the same. S--.CT10N 8. That said census shall in all respects be taken in the manner provided by said Act of the Legislature, and each and all of said census - takers, above named, shall be diligent in taking such census in a true and lawful manner. SLC 1CPd 9. That upon the filing of said census with the City Clerk of said City of El Segundo, California, said Clerk shall cause a certified copy of the same to be filed with the Secretary of State of the State of California, in the manner provided by law, and there- upon the same shall be known as, and be, "The Official Census of the City of El Se -undo, California, in and for the State of California, and in and for said Citi,, to en under the Authority of the Legislature of the State of California, as expres.ed in the Act of said Legislature, approved February 25, 1897, entitled, 'An Act to Auth- orize any City, or City and County of this State, to take its Census' ". S�CTZON 10. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the same to be published once in The El Segundo 4. Herald, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and circulated within the said city, and hereby designated for that purpose; shall enter the same in the Book of Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the minutes of the proceedings of the Board of Trustees of said City, at which the same is passed and adopted.
