BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF El SEGUNDO, CALIPOY,NIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF AN UNOFFICIAL VLEC'TION IN AND FOR SAID CITY, 2OR TEE MPOM OF GUIDING TIE SAID BOARD 'WITH REFERENCE, TO THE PROP05M ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY LYING ti "FESTE:'.LY OF THE SAID CITY AND IN SAID RESOLUTION DESCRIBED. ATIREAS overtures have been made to the Board of Trustees of the City of Al Segundo, California, respecting the annexation to said city of the territory hereinafter described; And whereas the proponents of the annexation of such territory desire an expression from the City of 51 Segundo as to whether or not said city appears to be willing to receive such territory in the event the necessary legal proceedings should be taken; And whereas this Board feels that an unofficial vote of the electors of said city should be taken for the purpose of guiding said Board in further considering the matter of such proposed annexation; NOW, THIRF.FORE, the Board of Trustees of the City of 11 Segundo, California, do resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION ONE: That the qualified electors of 1 said city be and they are hereby invited and requested by the Board of Trustees of the said City of L1 Segundo, California, to unofficially ballot upon the proposition as to whether or not they would be in favor of the annexation to the City of hl Segundo of the territory which is hereinafter described, and which for conve- nience is designated and referred to as Li Porto territory, in the event appropriate legal proceedings should be taken for the purpose. SECTION TNO- That said electors axe hereby invited to vote upon said proposition by marling a cross (;) in the voting square after the word "Yes ", or after the word "No." All votes "yes" shall be counted as in favor of the proposition to annex said territory, in the event appropriate legal proceedings were taken, and all votes "no" shall be counted as a.ainst the same. SECTICN ThMIZ: That the ballots to be used at said unofficial election shall, in addition to the respective numbers thereof, have thereon the following: STRAW VOTE ELECTION OF MAY 1, 1925. CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIF ORIJIA. IN RE PROPOSED ANNEXATION 2RI W :EDINGS FOR ANNEXATION OF EL PORTO TERRITORY. To vote on the question hereinafter stated, stamp a cross (X)'in the voting square after the word "Yes" or after the word "No." If you wrongly stamp, tear or deface this ballot, return it to the conductor of the election and obtain another. Are you in favor of the annexation to the City of El Segundo of Rl Porto territory, as described in Resolution No. 90 of the Board of Trustees of the CITY of E1 Segundo,California, upon appropriate legal proceedings beinb taken for such annexation? 7 YES . NO C)l r SECTION FOUR: That in order to conduct said election the city of 441 Segundo is hereby divided into three voting precincts, which shall consist of the regular election precincts established for the holding of county and state elections. The precinct polling places shall be as nearly as may be conveniently possible the same as fixed for the special election to be held in the city of 'El Segundo on the 1st day of Ilay, 1925, with reference to the annexation to the city of El Segundo, California, of Annexation Territory No. 2, and the conductors of this unofficial election re U Porto territory shall station themselves as nearly as legally and conveniently possible, so as to give the electors voting at said special election the oppor- tunity to cast their ballots also for or against the proposition which is hereby unofficially submitted. That the persons appointed as conductors of this unofficial election for the respective precincts are as follows: For Precinct Ito. 1 Mrs. Mary _B. Rogers For Precinct No. 2 Mrg. Ethel M. Palmer For Precinct No. 3 Mrs. Mae M. Grimes and their compensation is hereby fixed at the sum of eight dollars (:8.00) each for said election. Each of such persons above named shall receive from the city clerk of said city the ballots which said clerk will provide for the purpose, and will as far as possible conduct this straw vote for his or her respective pre- cinct in the usual manner of conducting elections, permitting only qualified electors of said city to vote; 3 provided, however, that it shall not be necessary for such conductors to count or canvass the result of said election, but each shall return the ballot box for his or her precinct to the city clerk, unopened, immediately upon the close of the election. The polls at said election shall be opened at six o'clock a.m., and shall be closed at the hour of seven o'clock p.m. of the day of said election, except as provided in Section 1164 of the Political Code of the State of California. SECTION FIVE: The territory designated as El Porto territory and to which reference is herein made, is situated in the county of Los Angeles, state of California, and is described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a point on the northerly boundary line of the City of LAnhattan Beach, as the same now exists, where said boundary line intersects a line lying twenty feet (20.00) easterly of, measured at right angles, and parallel to the easterly line of Tract 4103, as per map records of ;,;a.p Book 46, page So of Laps, records of Los Angeles County, and on file in the office of the County Recorder of said county; thence north- westerly along the aforesaid line lying 20.00 feet easterly of, measured at rignt angles, and parallel to the easterly line of Tract ido. 4103, as per said map last hereinabove referred to, to a point where said line intersects the easterly prolongation of the center line of that certain street known as 45th 3tYeet, Tract No. 4103, as per said map last hereinabove referred to; thence westerly along the said easterly prolongation of said center line of said 45th Street, Tract 4103, as per said map last hereinabove referred to, to a point where said easterly prolongation intersects the easterly line of Tract No. 4103, as per said map last hereinabove referred to; thence northerly along the said easterly line of said Tract No. 4103 to the northeasterly corner of said Tract No. 4103, as per said map last hereinabove referred to, thence westerly along the northerly line of said Tract No. 4103, its projection across highland Avenue, as shown upon the last above - mentioned map, and its westerly prolongation thereof, to a point where said westerly prolongation of said northerly line of said Tract No. 4103 inter- sects the westerly line of the Pacific Electric Railway right -of -way; also known as Lot L1, Tract 2356, Sheet Ito. 2, as ner map records of Book 28, page 42 of Laps, records of Los Angeles County, on file as aforesaid; thence southerly along the westerly line of the said Pacific hlectric Railway ri6nt -of -way, a distance of 20.00 feet to a point; thence south 670 48' 00" west to the point of intersection, in the Pacific Ocean, with the northerly boundary line of the City of 11an- hattan Beach, county of Los Angeles, California, as the same now exists; thence easterly along the said northerly boundary oT the said city of I,:annattan Beach, county of Los Angeles, California, to the point of beginning. SECTION SIX: The city clerk shall cause this resolution to be published twice in the L1 Segundo herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, 5 printed, published and circulated within the said city of hl Segundo, and hereby designated for that purpose, and the publication of said resolution ..3hall constitute and be the notice of said unofficial election. 110 further notice thereof need be given. SECTIOTT SEVEN: The city clerk is hereby directed to procure any and all supplies, parapher- nalia anc equipment necessary or convenient to conduct the said unofficial election, and said Clark shall canvass the returns thereof and submit the result of said election to this Board at its next regular meeting after the holding of said election, together with the ballots cast at said election, in the event the Board should care to have reference to the same. SLCTION `SIGHT: The city clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution, shall cause the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of said city, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the minutes of the proceedings of said Board.
