CC RESOLUTION 107RESOLUTION NO. 107. A RESOLUTION OF TEE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPT- ING SPECIFICATIONS NO. 12 FOR MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT FOR TRUNK LINE SEWER SYSTEM IN AND FOR SAID CITY. BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, that the following Speci- fications, being and to be known as "SPECIFICA.TIONS NUMBER 12 FOR MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT FOR TRUNK LINE SEWER SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA", be and the same are hereby adopted and ordered filed in the office of the City Clerk of said City. 1. PUMP,.MOTORS AND CONTROL Electric motors to be alternating current 7 1/2 H P, 220 Volts, 50 Cycles, 3 phase, 400, squirrel cage horizon- tal induction type, and constructed to operate pump at 1450 R.P.M. Motors to be equipped with automatic compensator with inverse time limit over -load protection. No- voltage release to be provided. These motors to be equipped with and controll- ed by float switch operation similar to the Cutler Hammer Rod Type, Fig. 10 Bulletin 10030. 2. PUMPS Pumps shall be 4" horizontal, centrifugal, two -part, nonchokeable municipal type, adapted to handle raw and un- screened sewage, and capable of passing solids up to and inclusive of 3" diameter. They shall have a capacity of 450 G.P.M. against a total head of 25 ft, and shall operate at a speed of not more than 1450 R.P.M. They shall be so construct- ed that the pump ease may be turned on a bracket to enable arrangement with horizontal over and under, or vertical up or down discharge; the runners shall be over hung so that the shaft shall not give any obstruction or opportunity to 1- solids passing through the pumps to attach to the same. Pumps shall be mounted on cast -iron base plate, and connected to motor with flexible coupling. Bidder shall furnish straight piece of pipe with hand -hole opening on auction side of pump. Pumps shall be of the solid non -split case and the covers on either side shall be of such diameter as to be able to remove the runner in either diredtion, and material used throughout for case, cover and bearing brackets shall be close- grained oast -iron with bronze runners, carefully balanced to operate satisfactorily at the speeds given. These pumps shall be direct connected to 7 1/2 H.P., 220 Volt, 50 Cycle, 3 phase electric motors. 3. CQUERESSOR MOTORS MW CONTROL. Electric motors to be alternating current, 10 H.P., 220 Volts, 50 Cycle, 3 phase, 400, Squirrel cage horizon- tal induction type, and constructed to operate at 1440 R.P.M.. Motors to be equipped with automatic compensator with inverse time limit overload protection, slide rails, and 7 Sle diameter, b" face paper pulley. These motors to be equipped with and controlled by air operated dia- phragm type pressure regulators, similar to Cutler Hammer type, style B, Bulletin 10,001; ancl 3 pole, 200 amp. 220 volt, single throw, externally operated, enclosed fused switch, supplied with test receptacles, 4. AIR OOMPRTssSORS Compressors to be 7" x 5" horizontal, single -stage with a piston displacement of 88 cubic Peet; discharge pressure of 45 lbs. and shall be equipped with Automatic Water Valve, Starting Unloader, 1 qt. Single Force Feed Lubricator, short -belt drive attachment and 2 ply leather belt, base plates and foundation bolts, and are to be driven by 10 H.P, 220 Volt, 3 phase, 50 cycle, motor 2- .3 operating at 1440 R.P.M. 5. SWITCH BOARD Switch boards to be constructed of black marine finished Slate on pipe frame work* resting on floor flanges and supporting necessary panel brackets, to which panels are to be bolted, no live parts on front of board. Each panel is to consist of a single section 48" high by 16" wide; and 1 1/2" thick with 1/4" bevels on front end and boarded at 4 corners to switch board frame; board to be 76" from floor to top of frame. Switches to be mounted on separate slate bases on rear of board operated by means of direct action handles on front of board and a space for current transformers and meters is to be provided when required by the schedule, together with meter and testing devices supplied with board. The board is to control apparatus of 240 volts, 50 cycle service. The main feed will be supplied from a 12 1/2 K.V.A., 50 cycle, 240 volt generator feeding to one side of a double throw switch which in turn feeds the bus and feeders. The other throw of this switch will be used as an entrance switch for Edison 220 volt, 50 cycle, incoming service, when the generator is not running. This board is to have the follow- ing apparatus mounted thereon: 1 - 200 ampere, 3 pole, double throw, 250 volt non -fused entrance, knife switch. 2 - 60 ampere, 3 pole, single throw, 250 volt knife switches, fusible. 1 - 100 ampere, 3 pole, single throw, 250 volt knife switch, fusible, for future 10 HP motor. 1 - space only for mounting of Edison Companyes watt hour meter with fused switch. 1 - Set of plug type testing receptacles for Edison motor, 1 - 7 1/2" alternating current ammeter, 50 ampere scale. 1 - Voltmeter, 300 volt scale. 1 - Rotary type voltmeter switch, 3 phase with key. 1 - Mounting only for rheostat hand wheel supplied with generator. 1 - Current transformer. 50 to 5 ampere. 1 - Field switch, 2 pole, single throw, for use with discharge resister furnished with the machine. 1 - Foxboro Liquid Level Gauge, Type 11, or equal. 1 - 30 Amp., 250 volt, single throw, fused, knife switch. 3- RM Supply also a sufficient number of wall braces, 60" in length, to securely fasten switch board to wall. BUSSING Ill bussing to be rectangular copper taped with two layers of varnished cloth, one layer of friction tape and painted with an insulating paint or varnish. All buss- ing to be of such size that the full capacity of all switches may be used at one time, with current density on the basis of 1000 amperes per square inch. ,FUSES The fuse base plane is to be parallel to the plane of the front of the switchboard and the fuses to be readily accessible from the rear of the board. switch. •1 :• ni• I suitable card holder is to be provided for each Motors, generators and materials to comply with the rules and standards of the Underwriter'a Laboratory. Also to conform to the standard requirements of the State Industrial Accident Commission. 6. GFJEa &TOR Generator to be alternating current belt driven 12 1/2 B.V.A. 3 phase, 240 volts, 50 cycle, 80%, power factor 1500 R.P.M. Exciter to be direct connected, and is to be equipped with discharge resister, base plate, and paper pulley. 7. GAS LNGINS Engine to be gas- operated 20 to 25 H.P., 300 R.P.M. maximum, and is to be connected with a 12 1/2 K.V.A. generator by a belt drive, generator to be driven at a speed of 1500 R.P.M., and is to be equipped with 2 ply leather belt. 8. SEWAGE EJECTORS Pneumatic ejectors shall be designed to handle raw, unscreened sewage with a capacity of 50 gallons per single discharge each. The inverts of the sewer inlets are at elevation 65.6 feet and 59.9 feet; and the sewage shall be lifted and discharged through approximately 500 feet and 525 feet of 6" east -iron pipe to discharge at eleva- tion 91.3 feet. The sewage inlet and outlet lines shall be of flanged pipe with flanged valves and fittings. Each ejector shall be equipped with check and gate valve as shoves on plans. Meter to be of the Venturi Tube type; diameter of pipe 10 inches, and diameter of throat 5 inches with a measuring capacity of 111,000 to 2,220,000 gallons per 24 hours, and shall be equipped with indicating dial, 24 hour recording charto and totalizing mechanism graduated in gallons. This meter is to be used to measure raw and un- screened sewage and shall be adapted to use under all con- ditions net in sewage disposal aryl sewage pumping works. 10. SUMP PUMPs Sump pumps shall be air - operated duplex piston pumps designed to discharge one gallon of water or less per stroke of one piston. Brackets to be furnished for installation of pump on side of pit. 11. AIR RECEIVERS Steel air- reoeivers shall be vertical type 36" dia. and 72" high, equipped with pop safety valve, pressure gauge, and blow off cook and shall be tested to a pressure of 100 lbs. per square inch. 12. VACUUM PRIMING PUMP Vacuum priming pump shall be * 0 Nash Vacuum Pump, or equal, direct connected on a base plate to a 3 H.P. 220 volt, 50 Cycle, 3 phase, 400 squirrel cage, 5. horizontal, induction type motor. 13. WATT laTLR Watt meter shall be polyphase recording self - winding, 5 amp. 220 Volt, 50 Cycle, switch board type; with two current transformers of 50 Amp. to 5 Amp.; Control circuit to be 110 volt, paper roll speed 2" per hour. 14. csr•:RM& IL11 bidders are required to furnish a guarantee of equipmeht; to show performance curves; characteristic sheets showing efficiencies of equipment on which they are bidding, date of delivery, and any information which will aid the City of El Segundo in their choice of the equipment to be purchased, and shall furnish to the City of E1 Segundo an expert erecting engineer to supervise the installation of all equipment furnished by them when so requested by the City Engineer of the City of El Segundo, payment for such services to be at the rate specified and bid in Item in the Proposal. This Engineer shall also, without cost to the City of El Segundo, give the City of E1 Segundo's operator all necessary instruc- tions for the care, operation and maintenance of their equipment. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same upon the Book of Resolutions of the said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the re- cords of the Board of Trustees of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
