CC RESOLUTION 70A Yl RESOLUTION N 0. 70 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF 'TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL LTI NICIIAL .ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON MONDAY, THE 14TH DAY OF APRIL, 1924, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN LWNICIPAL OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, AND FOR THE 11URPOS3 OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY A CERTAIN PROEOSITION RESPECTING THE REMNERATION TO BE PAID TO MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF SAID CITY. BE IT RE30LVED AND DETERNINED by the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, as follows: SECTION ONE: That there shall be held in the city of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Monday the 14th day of April, 1924, a general municipal election of the qualified electors of said city for the purpose of electing three members of the Board of Trustees of said city for the full term of four years, one member of the Board of Trustees of said city for the short term of two years, a city clerk of said city for the full term of four years, and a city treasurer of said city for the full term of four years. That there shall also be submitted at said election 1 l rlk. , upon the ballots to be used thereat, in accordance with the provisions of Section 855 of Act 2348 of the General haws (Deering) of the State of California, entitled "An Act to provide for the organization, incorporation and government of municipal corpor$tions," (Statutes of 1883, p.93,)as amended to date , the following question or proposition to be voted upon by the electors of said city, to wit: "Shall each member of the Board :.........:............ of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, hereafter 7ES receive the sum of 425.00 per .. " " " !" " " " .. '. month as compensation for his NO services as such member? TM SECTION TWO: That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat; and the city clerk of said city is hereby instructed, directed and authorized to give notice of said election in the time, form and manner as required by law; and said city clerk is hereby further instructed, directed and authorized to procure all supplies that may be necessary to properly and lawfully conduct said general municipal election. SECTION THREE: That for the purpose of holding said general municipal election there shall be three voting precincts within the said city, consisting of a consolidation of the regular voting precincts established for holding general state and county elections, as follows: Voting precinct "A" shall be known as such, and 2 I I''- shall include all of the territory in the city of E71 Segundo, California, within the exterior boundaries of E1 Segundo city precinct No. 1, as now established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California, for state and county elections, and the said exterior boundaries forming the exterior boundaries of the territory included within said E1 Segundo city precinct No. 1, so established by said Board of Supervisors, shall be and constitute and the same are hereby designated as the exterior boundaries of said voting precinct "A ". That the polling place in said voting pre- cinct "A" shall be at the basement of the First methodist Episcopal Church, on the northeast corner of Mariposa Avenue and Pain Street, within said precinct in said city, and the board of election to conduct the said election in said voting precinct "A" shall be and the same is hereby appointed as follows: Inspector: H. H. Evans Judge: Thomas Levi Tuck Clerk: bars Violet Thurston Mrs Mary B. Rogers Voting precinct "B" shall be known as such, and shall include all of the territory in the city of El Segundo, California, within the exterior boundaries of E1 Segundo city precinct No. 2, as now established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California, for state and county elections, and the said exterior boundaries forming the exterior boundaries of the territory included within said El Segundo city Ki Ar, precinct No. 2, so established by said Board of Supervisors, shall be and constitute and the same are hereby designated as the exterior boundaries of said voting precinct "B ". That the polling place in said voting pre- tint "B" shall be at the council chamber in the city hall of the said city of E1 Segundo, at the northwest corner of Franklin Avenue and Richmond Street, within said precinct in said city, and the board of election to conduct the said election in said voting precinct "B" shall be and the same is hereby appointed as follows: Inspector: John 0. Fitzgerald Judge: Mrs Helen B. Brock Clerks: Mrs Ethel M. Palmer William D. Dennis Voting precinct "C" shall be known as such, and shall include all of the territory in the city of E1 Segundo, California, within the exterior boundaries of E1 Segundo city precinct No. 3, as now established by the Board of Supervisors of I,os Angeles County, California, for state and county elections, and the said exterior boundaries forming the exterior boundaries of the territory included within said E1 Segundo city precinct No. 3, so established by said Board of Supervisors, shall be and constitute and the same are hereby designated as the exterior boundaries of said voting precinct "C ". That the polling place in said voting pre- cinct "C" shall be at the girls' luncheon room in the southwest corner of the basement of the main 4 o()r building of the El Segundo Grammar School, on the north side of Mariposa Avenue, between Richmond Street and Virginia Street, within said precinct in said city, and the board of election to conduct the said election in said voting precinct "C" shall be and the same is hereby appointed as follows: Inspector: Mrs Idly Cairns Judge: Leo W. Dessert Clerks: Mrs Hattie B. Bryan William C. Grimes All of the persons hereinabove named are hereby appointed as such officers respectively, and their compensation is hereby fixed at the sum of Eight Dollars (48.00) each for said election. SECTION k'OUR: That the polls for said election shall be open from six o'clock a.m. to seven o'clock p.m. of the said day of said election, except as provided in Section 1164 of the Folitical Code of the State of California. $ECTIOIV VIVE: that notice of the time and place of holding said general municipal election is hereby given, and that this resolution and the posting and publication thereof as hereinafter directed, to- gether with such other notices as may be required to be given by law, shall constitute the notice of said election. SECTIUF SIX: The city clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall 5 enter the same in the book of resoluuions of the said city of E1 Segundo; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting of the Board of 'Trustees of said city at which the same was passed and adopted; shall cause the same to be published two times consecutively before the day of said election in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newsraper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in said city, and which is hereby designated for that purpose; and shall conspicuously post a printed copy of this resolution for at least one week during the period preceding the date of such election in three public places within the said city of E1 Segundo, to wit: one such copy on the official bulletin board at the city hall in said city; one such copy on the official bulletin board at the United States post office in said city; and one such copy on the bulletin board near the main entrance of the Standard Oil Company refinery within the said city. MCCARTHY, city clerk of the city of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the Board of Trustees of the said city is five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 70 , was passed and adopted by the said Board of Trustees, approved and signed by the President of said Board, and attested by the city clerk of said city, all at a regular meeting of the said Board held on the 11th day of March, 19249 and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: TRUSMS Gerow, Love, Rueger, Smiley and Binder.
