RESOLUTION OF INTENTION

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DE-
CLARING TBE IRTENTI(E OF SAID BOA_ D TO
ORDER i21M IMEROVELENT OF MAIN STREET WITHIN
EUE SAID CITY, DECLARING THE WORK OR INI-
PROVENIENT TO BE uI' P.DRE THAN LOCAL OR
ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT; THAT THE COST OF
SAID WOr :K OR II&ROVEIMT SHALL BE ASSESSED
UPON A DISTRICT AND DETIRMINING THAT BONDS
SHALL B.F. ISSUED TD REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF.
The Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo,
California, do resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and conven-
ience require and that it is the intention of the Board of
Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, to order
the following work to be done and improvement to be made
within the said City, to wit:
(a) That idain Street within the said City, be-
tween the northerly line of Grand Avenue and the southerly
line of Collingwood Avenue (sometimes known as Collingwood
Street), be improved by grading the said portions of Main
Street between the westerly curb line of said street and
a line sixteen (16) feet east of, and parallel to said
curb line; and between the easterly curb line of said
street, and a line sixteen (16) feet west of, and parallel
to said curb line to the grade hereinafter fixed and referred
to, and by paving these portions thereof with a five (5)

inch oiled macadam pavement, all in accordance with Plan and
Profile No. P12363, and Cross Section No. X12364, hereto-
fore adopted by said Board of Trustees, and on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City, and in accordance
with specifications No. 1 for the construction of oiled
macadam pavements within the City of El Segundo, California,
saiispecifications having been heretofore adopted by said
Board of Trustees and on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City.
+ Also that Main Street between the northerly curb
line of Mariposa Avenue and the southerly line of Colling-
wood Avenue, be improved by grading the said portion of
Main Street between the westerly line and the westerly curb
line thereof, and between the easterly line and, the easterly
curb line thereof, to the grade hereinafter fixed and re-
ferred to, and by constructing thereon cement curbs and five
(5) foot cement sidewalks, all in accordance with said
Plan and Profile No. 212363, and Cross - sections No. 112364,
adopted and on file as aforesaid, and in accordance with
Specifications No. 7, for the construction of cement curbs
within the City of El Segundo, and Specifications No. 8
for the construction of cement sidewalks within the City
of El Segundo; all of said Specifications having been
heretof ore a dopt ed by said Boar d of Trustees and on f le
in the office of the City Clerk of said City.
Also that the existing curbs and sidewalks along
the easterly and westerly sides of Main Street, between
the northerly curb line of Pine Street, and the southerly
curb line of Mariposa Avenue, be removed, and new cement
curbs and six (6) foot cement sidewalks be constructed
thereon to the grade hereinafter fixed and referred to,
all in accordance with Plan and Profile No. P12363, adopted
and on file as aforesaid, and in accordance with said
Specifications No. 7 and Specifications No. 8, adopted

and on file as aforesaid.
Also that the existing curb and sidewalk along
the westerly side of Lt�iin Street between the northerly
line of E1 Segundo Avenue and the southerly curb line of
Franklin Avenue, be removed and a new cement curb and
six (6) foot cement sidewalk be constructed thereon to
the grade hereinafter fixed and referred to, all in ac-
oordance with Plan and Profile No. P12363, adopted and
on file as aforesaid, and in accordance with Specifications
No. 7 and Specifications No. 8, adopted and on file as
aforesaid.
Also that Main Street, between a line 25.18
feet northerly of and parallel with the northerly line of
El Segundo Avenue and the southerly curb line of Franklin
Avenue, be improved by grading that portion of Main
Street between the easterly line and the easterly curb
line thereof to the grade hereinafter fixed and referred
to, and by constructing therein a cement curb and a six
(6) foot cement sidewalk, all in accordance with Plan
and Profile No. P12363, adopted and on file as aforesaid,
and in accordance with Specifications No. 7, and Spec-
ifications No. 8, adopted and on file as aforesaid.
(b) Also that fifty-nine (59) ornamental
reinforced concrete lighting posts with concrete found-
ations, as per Plan No. M423819, heretofore adopted by
said Board of Trustees and on file in the office of
the City Ergineer of said City, be constructed along
the easterly and west er ly sides of Lain Street, between
the northerly line of 21 Segundo Avenue and the south-
erly line of said Collingwood Avenue (sometimes also
known as Collingwo od Street.)
That said lighting posts shall be constructed

of concrete, reinforced with steel rods, shall be set upon
concrete foundations and shall be equipped with Type "C"
6.6 ampere, 250 candle power Mazda Damps, globes, brass or
bronze globe-holders, wires, sockets, pot heads, and all
appliances necessary to install the c omplete electroliers
ready for operation.
That all of the said plans, profiles, cross- sections
and specifications hereinbefore mentioned are hereby express-
ly referred to for a more particular description of said
work or improvement, and by this reference are expressly
made a part hereof.
Reference is hereby made and attention is here-
by called to the Taiarbelite Corporation of America's concrete
lighting standard agreement, dated September 4, 1923, on
file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of El
Segundo , California, and open to public inspecti on.
(c) Also that a sherardized or equal iron con-
duit be constructed along the westerly side of Main Street
from the lighting post at the northwesterly corner of Main
Street and Grand Avenue to the lighting post at the north -
westerly corner of Main Street and E1 Segundo Avenue, thence
northerly a distance of 100 feet, thence easterly to the
lighting post 1,00 feet feet northerly from the northerly
lice of El Segundo Avenue, thence northerly along the
easterly side of Blain Street to the lighting post at the
southeasterly corner of Main Street and said Collingiood
Avenue, thence westerly to the lighting post at the
southwesterly corner of Jdain Street and said Collirgwood
Avenue, thence southerly along the westerly side of
Blain Street to the lighting post at the point of beginning.
That said conduit shall concoct all lighting
posts on both aides of Main Street in a continuous and

complete circuit.
That at the feed point near the northwest
corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue, said conduit shall
be run to the service pole and up the pole to within four
feet of the top cross -arm.
That within said conduit shall be installed
cable consisting of Bo. 8 B and S Gauge solid copper con-
ductor, insulated with varnished cambric and surrounded
by a lead sheath, so as to connect up all of the above
described posts end feed point in a complete double -
schedule lighting system, i.e., one-half the lights in
this circuit to be extinguished at midnight and one -half
to be lighted all night.
All of said posts, foundations, wires, cables,
lards and appliances for lighting shall be constructed
along the lines, between the points, of the dimensions,
to the grades, at the places and in the manner shown on
Flan No. M423819 and D423820, heretofore sdopted by the
Board of Trustees and on file in the office of the City
Engineer of said City, and shall be constructed of the
material and in the manner set forth in and in accordance
with Specifications No. 21, for the construction of
Ornamental Street Lighting Spstem in the City of El
Segundo, California, heretofore adopted by said Board of
Trustees, and on file in the office of the City Clerk
of said City.
The grade to which the work provided for in this
resolution of intention shall be done and the improve-
ment made shall be different from the official grade
which has heretofore been formally established and such
different or new grade shall be that shown on the said
profiles therefor on file in the office of the said City
Engineer, to vhich said profiles reference is hereby made
for the description of such grade.

SECTICU 2. That the aforesaid work or inprove-
ment is, in the opinion of said Board of Trustees, of more
than local or ordinary public benefit and said Board of
Trustees hereby declares that the district in said City of
El Seg undo b ene fit ed by a aid work or inp rov errant and to be
asoessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, is ali
that certain portion of said City included within the
following exterior boundary line, to -wit:
Beginning at a point where the center line of
El Segundo Avenue intersects the easterly line of the alley
extending northerly through Block 11 of E1 Segundo, as per
Map recorded in :dap Book 18, page 69, of Maps, records of
Los Angeles County, California, on file in the office of
the County Recorder of said County, thence northerly along
the easterly line of said alley extending northerly through
Blocks 11, 22, 43, 58, 73 and 85 of said E1 Segundo, and
the projection of said easterly line of said alley across
Franklin Avenue, Grand Avenue, Holly Avenue, "sine Avenue,
and Mariposa Avenue to the northwesterly corner of Lot 18
of Block 85 of the aforesaid E1 Segundo, as shown upon
map recorded in Yap Book 20, page 22 -23 of Maps, records
of Los Angeles County, California, and on file in the
office of the County Recorder of said County; thence north-
westerly to the southwesterly corner of Lot 3, of Block
85, shown upon said Map on file hereinbefore mentioned;
thence northerly alorg the westerly line of said Lot 3 of
Block 85 and its projection thereof to a point where
said line intersects the northerly line of Palm Avenue,
m thence westerly to the southwest corner of Lot 11 of Block
95 of the aforesaid El Segundo, as per map recorded in
Mip Book 20, page 22 -23, of tZaps, records of Los Angeles
County, California, and on file in the office of the

County Recorder of said County, thence northerly along
the westerly line of Lots 11 and 4 of Blocks 95, 98 and
105 of the aforesaid El Segundo, and the projection of
said line across Maple Avenue and Walnut Avenue, to a point
where the projection of said westerly line of Lot 4 of
Block 105 of the aforesaid L1 Segundo, as per hap recorded
in Map Book 20, page 22 -23 of Maps, records of Los Angeles
County, California, and on file in the office of the County
Recorder of said County, intersects the center lime of
Collingwood Avenue, thence easterly along the center line
of Collingwood Avenue to a point where said center line
intersects the projection of the easterly line of Lot 3
of Block 104 of the aforesaid E1 Segundo, as per 11ap
recorded in Map Book 20, page 22-23 of Maps, records of
Los Angeles County, California, aid on file in the office
of the County :.ecorder of said County, thence southerly
along the easterly line of Lots 3 and 8 Jf Block 104; Lot
3 of Block 99; Lot 2 of Tract 2.367 of Block 99; Lots 3
and 8 of Block 94 and the projection of said line across
Walnut Avenue and Maple Avenue; of the aforesaid El Segundo,
to the southeast corner of Lot 8 of Block 94, as per Lap
recorded in Hap Book 20--_, page 22 -23 -153 of Mars, records
of Los Angeles County, California, and on file in the
office of the County Recorder of said County, thence
westerly along the southerly line of Lots 8 and 7 of Block
94 to a point of intersection with the projection of the
easterly line of Lot 4 of Block 86, thence southerly along
the projection of said line and the easterly line of
said lot to the southeast corner of said Lot 4 of Block
86, as per Map recorded in I3ap Book 20, pages 22-23 of
Maps, records sf Los Angeles County, California, and on
file in the office of the County Recorder of said County;
thence southwesterly to the northeast corner of Lot 7

of Block 86 of the aforesaid El Segundo, as per map
recorded and on file as hereinbefore mentioned, thence
southerly alorg the westerly line of the alley extending
southerly through Blocks 86, 74, 59, 42, 23 and 10 of the
aforesaid E1 Segundo, and the projection of said wester-
ly line of said alley across Mariposa Avenue, Pine
Avenue, Holly Avenue, Grand Avenue and Franklin Avenue,
to a point of intersection with the center -line of El
Segundo Avenue, thence westerly to the point of beginning.
There is excepted from said district all portions of
public streets or alleys included within the herein -
before mentioned exterior boundary line.
The above description is genErU only. The
boundary line of the aforesaid district is shown on a
Map entitled; "Map of District to be assessed for the
Improvement of brain Street, City of El Segundo,
California," approved and adopted by the Board of Trustees
of the City of El Segundo on the 4th day of September,
1923, designated as Plan No. M12395, and on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City; the extent
of the said assessment district is indicated on said
map by a colored boundary line and to which said map
reference is hereby made for a full, further, more com-
plete and detailed description of the said assessment
district. The said plat or map so oiz file shall govern
for said description and for all details as to the
extent of said assessment district.
SEOTICK 3. That the said Board of Trustees
does hereby declare and determine, and notice is hereby
given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments,
and bear interest at the rate of seven per cent per annum,

will be issued hereunder in the manner provided by the
"Improvement Bond Act of 1915" the last installment of
which bDnds shall mature nine years from the 2nd day
of July next succeeding ten months from their date.
SZC12ICE 4. That except as hereinbefoze stated,
all of the proceedings for the aforesaid work or improve-
ment shall be had and taken under that certain act of
the Legislature of the State of California approved April
7, 1911, commonly referred to, designated and kmwn as
the "Improvement Act of 1911" and under all acts amenda-
tory thereof.
SECTIM 5. That the Street Superintendent shall
cause to be posted conspicuously along the line of said
contemplated work or improvement notices of the passage
of this Resolution of Intention in the time, form and
manner required by law.
SECTION 6. That notice is hereby given that
on Tuesday, the 9th day of October, 1923, beginning at
the hour of 8 o'clock P. Fd* of the said day, in the Council
Chamber of the Board of Trustees of said City at the City
Hall in the City of El Segundo, California, any and all
persons having any objections to the proposed work or
improvement, may appear before the said Board of Trustees
and show cause why said proposed improvement should not
be carried out in accordance with this resolution.
SECTION 7. That the City Engineer is hereby
directed to makB a diagram of the property affected or
benefited by the proposed work or improvement as described

in this Resolution of Intention and to be assessed to
pay the costs and expenses thereof. Such diagram shall
show each separate lot, piece or parcel of land, the area
in square feet of each of said lots, places or parcels of
land and the relative location of the same to the work
proposed to be doae.
SEC'TDM 8. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage wid adoption of this Resolution of Intention,
and he shall cause the same to be published twice in the
El Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper o8 general circu-
lation, printed, published and circulated within the said
City of El Segundo, California, and which is hereby des-
ignated for that purpose; but the said Board of Trustees
does not deem it advisable to direct the Clerk of said
City to mail oopies of said notices to the owners or reputed
owners whjse names and addresses are known to him.
Passed, approved and adopted this loth day of
