A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO9 CALIFORNIA. DE-
CLARING THE INTENTION OF SAID BOARD TO
ORDER THE IMPROVEMENT OF MAIN STREET WITHIN
THE SAID CITY, DECLARING THE WORK OR IM-
PROVEMENT TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR
ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT; THAT THE COST OF
SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT SHALL BE ASSESSED
UPON A DISTRICT AND DETERMINING THAT BONDS
SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF.
The Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, do resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and ocaven-
ience require and that it is tJ,e intention of the Board of
Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, to order
the following work to be done and improvement to b -e made
within the said City, to-wit:
That Main Street within the said City, between
the northerly line of Grand Avenue and the northerly
boundary line of said City, be improved by the grading
the said portions of Main Street between the westerly
curb line of said street and a line sixteen (16) feet
east of, and parallel to said curb line; and between
the easterly curb line of said street, and a line six-
teen (16) feet west of, and parallel t o, said curb
line to the official established grade and by paving
these portions thereof with a five (5) inch oiled macadam
pavement, all in accordance with Plan and Profile No.
P12363, and Cross Section Not %12364, heretofore
adopted by said Board of Trustees, and on file

in the office of the City Engineer of said City, and
in accordance with specifications No, 1 for the con-
struction of oiled macadam pavements with,the City of
El Segundo, California, said specifications having been
heretofore adopted by said Board of Trustees and on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.
Also that Main Street between the northerly curb
line of Mariposa Avenue and the southerly line of Colling-
wood Avenue, be improved by grading the said portion of
Main Street between the westerly line and the westerly
curb line thereof, and between the easterly line and
the easterly curb line thereof, to the official established
grade, and by constructing thereon cement curbs and five
(5) foot cement sidewalks, all in accordance with said
Plan and Profile No. P12363, and Cross- sections Noe
X123640 adopted and on file as aforesaid, and in accord-
ance with Specifications Noe 7, for the construction of
cement curbs within the City of E1 Segundo, and Specifi-
cations No. 8 for the construction of cement sidewalks
within the City of El Segundo; all of said Specifications
having been heretofore adopted by said Board of Trustees
and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.
Also that the existing curbs and sidewalks along
the easterly and westerly sides of Main Street, between
the northerly curb line of Pine Street, and the south-
erly curb line of Mariposa Avenue, be removed, and
new cement curbs and six (6) foot cement sidewalks be
constructed thereon to the official grade, all in
accordance with Plan and Profile No. P12363, adopted
and on file as aforesaid, and in accordance with said
Specifications No. 7 and Specifications No, S. adopted
and on file as aforesaid.

Also that the existing curb and sidewalk
along the westerly side of Main Street between the
northerly curb line of E1 Segundo Avenue and the south-
erly curb line of Franklin Avenue, be removed and a
new cement curb and six (6) foot cement sidewalk be
constructed thereon to the official grade, all in ac-
cordance with Plan and Profile loo, P12363, adopted and
on file as aforesaid, and in accordance with Specif-
ioatlons IJo, 7 and Specifications Noe 8, adopted and
on file as aforesaid.
Also that Main Street, between the northerly
curb line of E1 Segundo Avenue and the southerly curb
line of Franklin Avenue, be improved by grading that
portion of Main Street between the easterly line and
the easterly curb line thereof, and by constructing
thereon a cement curb and a six (6) foot cement side-
walk, all in accordance with Plan and Profile No, P123639
adopted and on file as aforesaid, and in accordance.
with Specifications Ilo. 7, and Specifications Pao. S.
adopted and on file as aforesaid.
That all of the said plans, profiles, cross —
sections and specifications hereinbefore mentioned are
hereby expressly referred to for a more particular
description of said work or improvement, and by this
reference are expressly made a part hereof,
SECTION 2, also that sixty (60) ornamental
reinforced concrete lighting posts with concrete
foundations, as per Plan No. M423819, heretofore adopted
by said Board of Trustees and on file in the office of
the City Engineer of said City, be constructed along
the easterly and westerly sides of Main Street, between
the northerly line of El Segundo Avenue and the so�itherly
line of Collingwood Avenue.

That said lighting posts shall be constructed
of concrete, reinforced with steel rods, shall be set
upon concrete fowidatio'r s and shall be equipped �r_' th
Type ^C °, 6.6 ampere, 250 candle -power Mazda Lamps,
globes, brass or bronze globe - holders, wires, sockets,
pot - heads, and all appliances necessary to install
the complete electroliers ready for operation,
Reference is hereby rnsde and attention is
hereby called to tr,e American Cement Products Corpora-
tion concrete lighting standard agreement, dated
September , 4th , 1923, on file in the office
of the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo, California,
and open to public inspection.
SECTION 3. That a sherardized or equal iron
conduit be constructed along the westerly side of Hain
Street from the lighting post at the north - westerly
corner of IuIain Street and Grand Avenue to the lighting
post at the northwesterly corner of Main Street and
E1 Segundo Avenue, thence easterly to the lighting post
at the north-easterly corner of Main Street and E1
Segundo Avenue, thence northerly along the easterly
side of Main Street to the lighting post at the south-
easterly corner of Main Street and Collingwood Avenue,
thence westerly to the lighting post at the south-
westerly corner of Main Street and Collingwood Avenue,
thence southerly along the westerly side of Main
Street to the lighting post at the point of beginning.
That said conduit shall connect all lighting
posts on both sides of Main Street in a continuous
and complete circuit.
That at the feed point near the north -west
corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue, said conduit
shall be ran to the service pole and up the pole to
within four feet of the top cross -arm.

That within said conduit shall be installed
cable consisting of No• 8 B and S. Gauge solid copper
conductor, insulated with varnished cambric and sur-
rounded by a lead sheath, so as to connect up all of
the above described posts and feed point in a complete
double-schedule lighting system, i.e. one-half the
lights in this circuit to be extinguished at midnight
and one -half to be lighted all night.
SECTION 4. All of said posts, foundations,
wires, cables, lamps and appliances for lighting shall
be constructed along the lines, between the points,
of the dimensions, at the places and in the manner
shown on Plan No. M423819 and D423820, heretofore
adopted by the Board of Trustees and on file in the
office of t he City Engineer of said City, and shall be
constructed of the material and in the manner set
forth in and in accordance with Specifications No.
11 , for the construction of Ornamental Street
Lighting System in the City of E1 Segundo, California,
heretofore adopted by said Board of Trustees, and on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.
SECTION 5. That the aforesaid work or im-
provement is, in the opinion of said Board of Trustees,
of more than local or ordinary public benefit and
said Board of Trustees hereby declares that the dist-
rict in said City of E1 Segundo benefited by said work
or improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and
expenses thereof, is all that certain portion of
said City included within the following exterior bound-
ary line, to -wit:

Of E1 Segundo Avenue intersects the easterly line of
the alley extending northerly through Block 11 of
E1 Segundo, as per Map recorded in Map Book 18, page
69, of Maps, records of Los Angeles County, Califor-
nia, on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, thence northerly along the easterly line
of said alley extending northerly through Blocks 11, 229
439 58, 73 and 85 of said E1 Segundo, and the project-
ion of said easterly line of said alley across Franklin
Avenues Grand Avenue, Holly Avenue, Pine Avenue, and
Mariposa Avenue to the north - westerly corner of Lot 18
of Block 85 of the aforesaid E1 Segundo, as shown upon
map recorded in Map Book 20, pegs 22 -23, of I1aps, records
of Los Angeles County, California and on file in the
office of t-e County Recorder of said County; thence
north - westerly to the south - westerly corner of Lot 3
Of Block 85, shown upon said Map on file hereinbefore
mentioned; thence northerly along the westerly line
Of said Lot 3 of Block 85 and its projection thereof to
a point Mere said line intersects the northerly line
of Palm Avenue, thence westerly to the south -west
corner of Lot 11 of Block 95 of the aforesaid El Segundo,
as per map recorded in Map Book 20, page 22 -23, of Maps
records of Los Angeles County, California and on file
in the office of the County Recorder of said County,
thence northerly along the westerly line of Lots 11
and 4 of Blocks 95, 98 and 105 of the aforesaid E1
Segundo, and the projection of said line across Maple
Avenue and Walnut Avenue, to a point where the project-
ion of said westerly line of Lot 4 of Block 105 of
the aforesaid El Segundo, as per Map recorded in Map
Book 20, page 22 -23 of Maps, records of Los Angeles
County, California, and on file in the office of the

County Recorder of said County, intersects the center
line of Collingwood Avenue, thence easterly along the
center line of Collingwood Avenue to a point where
said center -line intersects the projection of the
easterly line of Lot 3 of Block 104 of the aforesaid
E1 Segundo, as per Map recorded in Map Book 20, page
22 -23 of Maps, records of Los Angeles County, California,
and on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, thence southerly along the easterly line
of Lots 3 and 8 of Block 104; Lot 3 of Block 99; lot
2 of Tract 2367 of Block 99; Lots 3 and 8 of Block
94 and the projection of said line across Walnut Avenue
and Maple Avenue; of the aforesaid E1 Segundo, to the
southeast corner of Lot 8 of Block 94, as per Map re-
corded in Map Book 20 -22, page 22 -23 -153, of Mapa,
reoordsof Los Angeles County, California, and on file
in the office of the County Recorder of said County,
thence westerly along the southerly line of Lots 8 and
7 of Block 94 to a point of intersection with the
projection of the easterly line of Lot 4 of Block 86, thence
southerly along the projection of said line and the
easterly line of said lot to the a) utheast corner
of said Lot 4 of Block 86, as per Map
recorded in Map Book 20, page 22-23 of Maps; records of
Los Angeles County, California; and on file in the
office of the County Recorder of said County; thence
southwesterly to the northeast corner of Lot 7 of Block
86 of the aforesaid E1 Segundo, as per map recorded and
on file as hersinbefore mentioned, thence southerly
along the westerly line of the alley extending southerly
through Blocks 86, 749 590 420 23, and 10 of the
aforesaid El Segundo, and the projection of said westerly

line of said alley across Mariposa Avenue, Pine Avenue,
Holly Avenue, Grand Avenue, and Franklin Avenue, to
a point of intersection with the center -line of E1
Segundo Avenue, thence westerly to the point of begin-
ning.
The boundary line of the aforesaid district
is shown on a PJIap entitled: "Map of District to be
assessed for the Improvement of Main Street, City of
E1 Segundo, California," approved and adopted by the
Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo on the
4th day of September, , 1923, designated
as Plan No. M12395 , and on file in the office of the
City Engineer of said City; on which map the extent
of the said assessment district is indicated by a
colored boundary line and to which said map reference
is hereby made for a more complete and detailed des-
cription of said district, which map shall govern for said
description; there is excepted from said district
all portions of public streets or alleys included with-
in the hereinbeforF mentioned exterior boundary line.
SECTION 6. That the said Board of Trustees
does hereby declare and determine, and notice is hereby
given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assess-
ments, and bear interest at the rate of seven per cent
per annum, will be issued hereunder in the manner pro-
vided by the "Improvement Bond Act of 1915" the last
installment of which bonds shall mature nine years
from the 2nd day of July next succeeding
ten months from their dates
SECTION 76 That except as hersinbefore
stated, all of the proceedings for the aforesaid work
or improvement shall be had and taken under that certain

act of the Legislature of the State of California
approved April 7, 1911, commonly referred to, desig-
nated and known as the "Improvement Act of 1911," and
under all acts mandatory thereof.
SECTION Be That the Street Superintendent
shall cause to be posted conspicuously along the line
of said contemplated work or improvement notices of the
passage of this Resolution of Intention in the time,
form and manner required by law.
SECTION 9. That notice is hereby given
that on Tuesday, the 25th day of _ September,
19239 beginning at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M.
of the said day, in the Council Chamber of the Board
of Trustees of said City at the City Hall in the City
of El Segundo, California, any and all persons having
any objections to the proposed work or improvement, may
appear before the said Board of Trustees and show cause
why said proposed improvement shou.d not be carried out
in accordance with this resolution.
SECTION 10. That the City Engineer is here-
by directed to make a diagram of the property affected
or benefited by the proposed work or improvement as
desoribed in this Resolution of Intention and to be
assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof. Such
diagram shall show each separate lot, piece or parcel
of land, the area in square feet of each of said lots,
pieces or parcels of land and the relative location
of the same to the work proposed to be done.
SECTION 11. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this Resolution of

Intention, and he shall cause the same to be published
twice in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper
of general circulation, printed, published and circu-
lated within the said City of E1 Segundo, California,
and which is hereby designated for that purpose; but
the said Board of Trustees does not deem it advisable
to direct the Clerk of said City to mail copies of
said notices to the owners or reputed owners whose
names and addresses are known to him,
Passed, approved and adopted this 4th day
of September, A. D. 1923.
