A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRZBTEES OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, CANVASS-
ING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
EIE CT ION H.EID ON MONDAY, THE 12TH DAY OF
MARCH, 1923, AND DECLARING THE RESUMS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of E1
Segundo, California, did, by Resolution No. 49 of the said Board,
call and order to be hold in said city, a special municipal
election on Monday, the 12th day of March, A. D. 1923, for the
purpose of sti mitting to the qualified voters thereof, the pro-
position hereinafter referred to;
AND WHEREAS, said Resolution Ho. 49, calling and
ordering said special municipal election, was published in form,
time and manner as required by law, as appears from the affidavit
of J. V. Van Baton, on file in the office of the City Clerk of
said City;
AND WHEREAS, it appears that said special election was
duly held in accordance with law and said call, and the polls for
said election were kept open during the time required by law, to-
wit; from six o'clock A. M. to seven o'clook P. M. of said day,
and that said special election was held and the votes thereat re-
oeived, canvassed and the returns thereof ascertained, determined
and declared in time, farm and manner as required by the ordinances
of the said city and the laws of the State of California, and also
in the manner prescribed by Resolution No. 49; and,
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, the 13th day of March, 1923, the
Board of Trustees of said City, met in regalar session at their
usual place of meeting and the returns of said election were by the
City Clerk presented at said time to said Board with the seals un-
broken in the same condition as when received; and
WHEREAS, on said Tuesday, the 13th day of March, 1923,
the said Board proceeded to and did canvass the returns of said
special election as required by law;

HOW TFERETORE, the results of said election having
been f amid to be as hereinafter stated,
TEE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, DO RESOLVE, DECIARE AND 7ETERMINS HEREBY AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the proposition voted upon at said special
election was the proposition hereinafter set forth, std was
stated as follows:
"Shall the City of E1 Segundo, California,
acquire the existing plants and water dis-
tributing systems of the E1 Segundo Water
Company and of the Sausal Redondo Water
Company, as set forth in the report of Messrs
Olmsted and Gillelen, engineers, dated the
-6th day of November, 1922, (now on file in
the City Hall of said city, and open to public
impaction) including all additions and better -
menta made since the date,of said report, and
also including the real estate described at
the bottom of this ballot, for the sum of not
to exceed $71,000 total, being not to exceed
$629000 far the plant, land and equipment of
the E1 Segundo Water Company, and not to exceed
$9,000 for the plant, land and equipment of the
Sausal Redondo Water Company?
The land of the E1 Segundo Water Company, above referred
to is located in said City of El Segundo, and is described
as follows:
Lots 219 22 and 23, Block 100 sheet 1, El Segundo,
as recorded in Map Book 18, page 69, Records of
Los Angeles County.
Lots 3, 4 and 5, Block 34, sheet 7, E1 Segundo, as
recorded in Map Book 22, pages 54 and 55, Records
of Los Angeles County.
A portion of Lot 3, Block 959 sheet 3, E1 Segundo,
as recorded in Map Book 20, pages 82 and 23, Records
of Los An@elas County.
The land of the Sausal Redondo Water Company above referred
to, is located in said City of E1 Segundo, ani is described
as follow:
Lot 10, Block 3, Tract 1685. That certain parcel
of real estate located in Section 11, Tom ship 3,
South, Range 15 West, S. B. B. & M beginning at the
Northwest corner of Lot 10, Block 3 of Tract 1685;
thence South 89 clegrees, 58 Minutes, 10 Seconds West,
along the South line of Pine Avenue and the westerly
prolongation thereof 254.28 feet; thence South 0
degrees, 1 minute, 50 seconds East, 73,40 feet to the
point of beginning; thence from said point of beginn-
ing South, 0 degrees, 1 Minute, 50 Seconds, East, 42
feet, thence South 89 Degrees, 58 Minutes, 10 Seconds,
West, 62 feet; thence North 0 degrees, 1 Minute, 50
Seconds, West 42 feet; thence West 89 degrees, 58 min-
utes, 10 seconds East, 62' to the point of beginning,"

2. That there were two election precincts within
said city for the purpose of holding said special election,
to -wit; Voting Precinct "A ", which was known as avDh, and
which included all of the territory in the City of El Segundo,
California, within the exterior boundaries of El Segundo Pre -
oinot No. 1, as the same were fixed by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Los Angeles, Cali S>rnia, on the 29th day of
December, 1921, and now being of record in Book 78-A of the
minutes of the said Board of Supervisors, reference to the same
being hereby expressly made for a more particular description
of said precinct, the said exterior boundaries forming the ex-
terior boundaries of the territory included within said El
Segundo Precinct No. 1 having been made, constituted and de-
signated as the exterior boundaries of said voting precinct "A ";
anti Consolidated Voting Precinct "B ", which zees known as such
and which included all of the territory in the City of El Segundo,
California, within the exterior boundaries of E1 Segundo City
Precinct No. 2 and El Segundo City Precinct No. 3, as the same
were fixed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles, Ca lifornis, on the 29th day of December, 1921, ani now
being of record in Book 78-A of the minutes of the said Board of
Supervisors, reference to the same being hereby expressly made
for a more particular description of said precincts, the said
exterior boundaries forming the exterior boundaries of the terri-
tory included within said S1 Segundo City Precincts Nos. 2 ard 3
having been made, constituted and designated as the exterior
boundaries of said Consolidated Voting Precinct "B ", said El
Segundo City Precincts Nos. 2 and 3 having been consolidated
for the purpose of holding said election.
3. That the total number of votes cast at said Special
Municipal 'Election was two hundred fifty -six votes.
4. That the number of votes cast thereat in favor of
the said proposition was -one hundred ninety -six votes, and
that the number of votes oast thereat against said proposition

AND iETERUT by said Board, that more than two-thirds of
all the voters voting at said Special Election in said City,
voted in favor of said proposition hereinbefore set forth, and
to acquire
did thereby authorize the Board of Trustees of said City, /the
physical properties of the El Segrmdo Water Company, and of
the Sausal Redondo Water Company, within the said City of El
Segundo, referred to in the said proposition above stated at
a price not exceeding the total sum of $71,000, being not to
exceed $62,000 for the plant, land and equipment of the El
Segundo Water Company, and not to exceed $9,000 for the plant,
laid and equipment of the Sausal Redondo Water Company.
5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution arrl shall cause the same to be
entered in the Book of Resolutions of said City, and shall make
a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the minutes of
the proceedings of the Board of Trustees of said City.
