WI_ERE"S, the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, did, by Resolution No. 46 of the said Board, call and order to be held in said City, a special municipal election on Wednesday, the 29th day of November, 1922, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City, the following proposition, to -wit: "Shall the ordinance submitted to the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo by initiative petition on the 17th day of October, 1922, enti- tled 'An Ordinance of the City of E1 Segundo, California, creating the office of City Planager in and for the said City, and defining the powers and duties and crovidinz for the com- pensation of said officer' be adopted ?" AIiD ':HEREAS, said Resolution No. 46 calling and ordering said special election, was published in form, time and manner as required by law, as appears from the affida- vit of J. V. Van Eaton, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City; and ;!HEREAS, it appears that said special election was duly held in accordance with law and said call and that the polls for said election were kept open during the time required by law, to -wit: from six o'clock A. L.. to seven o'clock P. Ii. of said day, and further that said special -1- !J_Q^ election was held and the votes thereat received, canvassed and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and de- clared, in time, form, and manner as required by the laws of the State of California and the ordinances of said city; and 7MMEAS, on Tuesday, the 5th day of December, 1922, the Board of Trustees of said City met at their usual place of meeting and proceeded to and did canvas$the returns of said special municipal election, as required by law, whereupon the result of said election having been found to be as hereinafter stated, - IT IS ?-MREBY RESOLVED, DECLnRED iED DETERS:INED by the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, Cali- fornia, as follows: SECTION 1. That the proposition hereinbefore mentioned, voted upon at said special election was the following proposition, and was stated as follows, to -wit: "Shall the ordinance submitted to the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo by initiative petition on the 17th day of October, 1922, enti- tled 'An Ordinance of the City of E1 Segundo, California., creating the office of City MaInager in and for the said City, and defining the powers and duties and providing for the com- pensation of said officer' be adopted ?" SECTION 2. That there were two voting precincts within said City for the purpose of holding said special municipal election, to -wit: Voting Precinct "A ", which was known as such and which included all of the territory in the City of E1 Segundo, California, within the exterior boundaries of E1 Segundo City, Precinct Lo. 1, as the same were fixed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Lngeles, W-0 Gam: California, on the 29th day of December, 1921, and now being of record in Book 78 -A of the minutes of the said Board of Supervisors, reference to the same being hereby expressly made for a more particular description of said precinct, and the said exterior boundaries forming the exterior boundaries of the territory included within said E1 Segundo Precinct No. 1, constituted and the same were designated as the exterior boundaries of said voting Precinct "A ". Consolidated voting Precinct "B ", which was known as such and which included all of the territory in the City of E1 Segundo, California, within the exterior boundaries of E1 Segundo City, Precinct No. 2 and E1 Se- gundo City, Precinct No. 3, as the same were fixed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of los Angeles, Cali- fornia, on the 29th day of December, 1921, and now being of record in Book 78 -A of the minutes of the said Board of Supervisors, reference to the same being hereby expressly made for a more particular description of said precincts, and the said exterior boundaries of the terri- tory included within said E1 Segundo City precincts, Numbers 2 and 3, were and constituted and the same were designated as the exterior boundaries of said Consolidated Voting Precinct "B ", said E1 Segundo City precincts, Numbers 2 and 3 having been consolidated for the purposes of holding said election. SECTION 3. That the total number of votes cast at such special municipal election was 30d That the total number of votes cast thereat in favor of said proposition first hereinbefore stated, to-wit, orFosifa }'MPWOY¢ the number of votes placed in the voting square "YES" on the ballots used at said election, was SO ; and -3- that the number of votes cast thereat against said proposition, to -wit, the number of votes placed in the voting square opposite the word I'M" on the ballots used at the said election was WHEREFORE, It is further resolved, declared and determined by said Board, that a ma ority of the qualified electors voting on said proposed ordinance and upon said proposition voted against the adoption of the said ordinance and defeated the said proposition, and that, therefore, the said ordinance shall not become effective for any purpose. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of Resolutions of said City and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the Board of rustees of said City in the minutes of the meeting, at which the same is passed and adopted.
