CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Gordon at 4:50 p.m.
City Attorney Mark Hensley referenced Government Code Section 54956.5 as the basis for
potentially holding this meeting.
MOVED by Council Member Gaines, SECONDED by Mayor Pro Tern Jacobs to hold this
Emergency Meeting of the City Council to address the Energy Crisis and potential impact on the
City. MOTION PASSED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYES: MAYOR GORDON, MAYOR
PRO TEM JACOBS, COUNCIL MEMBER GAINES; NOES: COUNCIL MEMBER WERNICK;
ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBER MCDOWELL. 3/1/1

PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS - (Related to City Business Only - 5 minute limit per person, 30
minute limit total) Individuals who have received value of $50 or more to communicate to the City Council on behalf of
another, and employees speaking on behalf of their employer, must so identify themselves prior to addressing the City Council
Failure to do so shall be a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of $250 While all comments are welcome, the Brown Act does
not allow Council to take action on any item not on the agenda. The Council will respond to comments after Public
Communications is closed
Mr. Gerhardt Van Drie, resident, spoke regarding the "Van Drie Mixer" and its potential use in this
energy crisis.
Mr. Scott Gobel, Regional Manager, Southern California Edison, introduced himself and stated
that he would be available for Council questions.

ordinances and resolutions on this Agenda by title only. MOTION PASSED BY

Mary Strenn, City Manager, gave a brief report.
Dave Burns, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, briefed Council on City readiness.
Tim Grimmond, Police Chief, briefed Council on Police Department readiness.
Andy Santamaria, Director of Pubic Works, briefed Council on Public Works Department
readiness.
Mr. Scott Gobel, Southern California Edison, reported on Rotating Electric Outages and
responded to Council questions.
Battalion Chief John Gilbert responded to Council questions regarding Fire Department
readiness.
Mr. Keith Knoff, Boeing, reported on the impact to Company production.
Mr. Bill Winger, Kilroy Industry, reported on the impact to his Company.
