A. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS
1. Joint City Council/Planning Commission bus tour of City for the purpose of
identifying issues and concerns to be addressed in the Zoning Code and Subdivision
Ordinance revisions.
Listed below are areas the bus stopped at and what concerns which were addressed.
Councilman Robbins did not participate on discussion on property east of Sepulveda Blvd.
Strip Shopping Centers public safety with regards to parking and ingress /egress.
Shopping Centers at N/E corner of Mariposa and Sepulveda, and S/E corner of El Segundo
and Sepulveda public safety with regards to parking and ingress /egress of traffic.
400 block of Standard Street wide curb cuts due to narrow lot size reduce the amount of
available street parking; tall, narrow, and long box -like buildings take up much of the lot,
and block sunlight and airflow; building heights; trees; air avigation; light; and space.
Elm Street tall, long wall blocks sunlight and airflow.
Main and Grand Shopping Center public safety problems with regards to one driveway
creating problems with poor ingress /egress, and the lack and tightness of parking spaces;
alley access parking on Main Street; bike racks at individual locations, and signage.
Grand/Franklin Avenues safety problems with parking on both sides of the street, and new
buildings should have adequate parking.
Whiting Street /Grand Avenue zoning conversion (R2/R3).
500 block of Virginia Street multiple stories; vehicle storage - garages, and landscaping.
300 block of Hillcrest Street lot coverage and air avigation.
Main Street/Imperial Avenue parking, and ingress /egress problems.
Indiana Ct/Sepulveda Blvd. - deadend street parking problems, and ingress /egress problems.
Imperial M1/M2 to CO (corporate offices) - acreage 55,000, greenline location where
construction was presently happening.
Douglas Street/Park Place health clubs /video store - not in code regarding parking.
Grand Tropez no deceleration lane on Grand Avenue; landscape; code problems regarding
footage 15,000 restriction and units per acre; turn pockets needed, and traffic backed up a
little on Grand Avenue.
100 block of Standard Street loading dock recreates problems with traffic being backed up,
and has not yet been corrected in the code.
