1990 MAR 23 CC MINEL SEGUNDO CITY COUNCH, ADJOURNED MINUTES-March 23, 19W7:OOPM CALL TO ORDER by Mayor Carl Jacobson at 7:00 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE led by Councilman Jim Clutter ROLL CALL Councilman Anderson- present Councilman Clutter - present Councilman Dannen- present Councilman West - present Mayor Jacobson - present PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS 1. John Van Hook, SEE (Save El Segundo's Environment) urged Council to file suit against the Hyperion. 2. Gerhardt Van Drie, 724 W. Pine requested Council file a restraining order against the Hyperion. Mayor ProTem Dannen MOVED, based on the incidents that occurred on March 19, 1990 regarding the Hyperion that the subject of the Hyperion be placed on the agenda as an emergency matter. Councilman Clutter SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED BY AN UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. Mayor ProTem Dannen MOVED to immediately file for injunctive relief and a nuisance abatement against the Hyperion Treatment Plant, City of Los Angeles, Mayor Bradley and others in addition to conducting a full environmental and health assessment. Councilman Clutter SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED BY AN UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE. CLOSED SESSION At 7:25 p.m. Council adjourned to the Mayor's Office for Closed Session. Council moved into a closed session pursuant to applicable law, including the Brown Act (Government Code Sec. 54950, et EM..) as announced by the City Attorney, for the purposes of conferring with the City Attorney on potential and/ or existing litigation and /or discussing personnel matters: q 54956.9(a) (City a party to pending litigation) Los Angeles vs City of El Segundo Hughes vs City of El Segundo § 54956.9(b) (City might have significant exposure to litigation 2 matters 4 54956.9(c) (City might decide to initiate litigation) 1 matter ADJOURNMENT Council adjourned to Monday, April 2, 1990, 7:00 p.m. for a Joint Meeting with the El Segundo Unified School District Board of Education.
