1980 MAY 27 CC MIN - 19MINUTES OF TFR ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETTNG OF THE EL SEGUNDO CITY COUNCIL MAY 27, 1980 1. CALL TO ORDER The E1 Segundo City Council convened in an adjourned regular meeti ^g on the above date at the hour of 6:00 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber of the E1 Segundo City Hall. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The pledge to the Flag was led by Councilman Jack Siadek 3. ROLL. CALL Present: Councilmen Bue, Johnson, Siadek, and Mayor Van Vranken Absent: Councilman Balmer 4. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS Mayor Van Vranken announced that the present company under contract with the City for residential refuse pick up is contemplating trans- ferring its interest, and the purpose of this meeting is to discuss services and facilities with the proposed new owners, BKK Corporation. Mr. Ben K. Kazarian, Jr., president of BKK Corporation, introduced other members of his company; Mr. Stan. Crawford, Assistant General Manager; his son, Mr. Ken Kazarian, General Manager; and Mr. Dean Virden, Controller. Stated his company had been founded by his father, and his family had been in the business for three generations. Mr. .Ken Kazarian showed. a movie film depicting the activities of the company from the time the waste matter is picked up at curbside to the dump site terminal. Discussions were held between Council, Staff and members of the BKK Corporation regarding proposed dump sites, costs, type of operation, etc. Mr. Ben Kazarian advised they would operate with the present equipment and personnel, with a few changes in supervision. In response to Council inquiry, stated the transfer of interest could possibly be accomplished by June 15, 1980. After further discussion, the Council recommended this matter be placed on the agenda for the June 3, 1980 meeting. 5. ADJOURNMENT No other business appearing to come before the Council at this session, the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned until 7:00 o'clock p.m., this date, May 27, 1980; the hour of adjournment of this meeting being 6:50 o'clock p.m. APPROVED: R.
