An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of
said City on the above date. Prior to calling the meeting to order, those
present joined in pledging allegiance to the Flag of the United States of
America.
The meeting was then called to order by E. L. Balmer, the hour
being 5:00 o'clock p. m.

Present: Councilmen Bue, Nagel, Van Vranken
and Mayor Balmer;
Absent: Councilman Rockhold.
Mayor Balmer announced that the purpose of this meeting was to
select a candidate to fill the vacancy on the Recreation and Parks Commis-
sion created by Mr. Bue's election to the Council. Further advised that
Mr. John M. Lowe's term on the Commission will expire May 14, 1976 and
that Mr. Lowe had expressed willingness to continue serving on the Commission.
Councilman Bue stated that the three applicants interviewed on
April 22 were all very capable people who would serve well on the Commis-
sion and that it was a difficult choice to make. Thereafter, Councilman Bue
moved, seconded by Councilman Van Vranken, that Mr. Anthony E. Arndt
be appointed to fill the unexpired term on the Recreation and Parks Commis-
sion of Mr. Bue, said term to expire May 14, 1977. Motion carried.
Motion was then made by Councilman Bue, seconded by Councilman
Van Vranken, that Mr. John M. Lowe be reappointed to the Commission for a
full 4 -year term to expire May 14, 1980. Motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Bue, Van Vranken
and Mayor Balmer;
Noes: Councilman Nagel;
Absent: Councilman Rockhold.
At this time, the hour being 5:10 o'clock p. m. , the Council recessed
to the Mayor's office for an Executive Session for the purpose of discussions
with the Meet and Confer Team. At the hour of 6:15 o'clock p. m., the Council
reconvened, the following members being present and answering roll call:
Councilmen Bue, Van Vranken and Mayor Balmer.
No other business appearing to come before the Council at this session,
motion was made by Mayor Balmer, seconded by Councilman Van Vranken, that
the meeting adjourn, the hour of adjournment being 6:17 o'clock p.m. Motion
carried.
