November 26, 1975
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall
of said City on the above date. The Clerk reported that a Notice of Adjournment
had been posted as required by law and that an affidavit of posting was on
file in the City Clerk's office.
The meeting was then called to order by E. L. Balmer, Mayor, the
hour being 5 :00 o'clock p.m.
ROLL. CALL
Present: Councilmen Nagel, Rockhold, Van Vranken
and Mayor Balmer;
Absent: Councilman Stephens.
The Mayor announced that this meeting was called to discuss the
changes in the plans for the new police building, remodeling of the City Hall
and the Civic Center Mall.
Director of Public Works Glickman displayed a plot plan depicting
the parking arrangements as they would be during and following construction
and remodeling activities.
City Manager Jones advised that the final application form had been
submitted for federal funding of the Emergency Operating Center (EOC) and
explained the methods and items of the EOC which are eligible under this funding.
Mr. Marion J. Varner, Mr. Jerry Keller and Mr. Russell Hobbs,
architects for this project, discussed the plans and schedules and responded
to Council's inquiries.
A general discussion was held regarding the location of the flag poles,
gasoline pumps at the fire station, sidewalks, exterior finishes of the buildings,
remodeling of the Council Chamber and general requirements of the police pistol
range. Also discussed types of materials to be used on the surface of walkways,
roadways and parking areas, lighting of the mall, remodeling and rearrangement
of rooms in City Hall.
There being no further business pertaining to Civic Center Improvements,
Councilmen Nagel and Van Vranken stated they wished to commend the Fire,
Police and Public Works Departments for their expert handling of the fire at
Oregon Street and E1 Segundo Boulevard.
There being no other business to come before the Council at this session,
motion was made by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Councilman Van Vranken,
that the meeting adjourn in memory of Mr. John J. Sailors, previous City Manager
of the City of E1 Segundo; the hour of adjournment of this meeting being 6 :40
o'clock p.m. Motion carried.
