An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall
of said City on the above date. The Mayor appointed Councilman Nagel as
City Clerk pro tem, and he reported that a copy of the Notice of Adjournment
had been posted as required by law, and that the affidavit of posting was on
file.
The meeting was then called to order by Herman L. McGill, Mayor,
the hour being 8:00 o'clock p. m.
ROLL CALL
Councilmen Present: Carr, Frederick, Nagel, McElhaney and
Mayor McGill;
Councilmen Absent: None.
At the hour of 8:05 o'clock p.m. the Council adjourned to the Mayor's
office for a personnel session.
At the hour of 9:30 o'clock p. m. , the Council reconvened in the Council
Chamber, all members being present and answering roll call.
The Mayor announced that the following procedure would be followed
for the selection of a new Police Chief to take office upon the retirement of
Chief Tom DeBerry.
The examinations will be open to any Police Officer who has held the
grade of Lieutenant or higher for four or more years in a comparable or
larger Police Department in the State of California. The examination will
consist of a written test and oral interview. The salary range will remain
unchanged for the, time being except that the first two steps will be eliminated
which establishes at this time for that, classification the following range:
$1055 - 1107 -1162. The two deputy chiefs who will be eligible to compete for
this position have been with the City many years and would be exempt from
the written examination and automatically placed within the top six for an
oral interview.
No other business to be conducted at this session, it was moved by
Councilman McElhaney, seconded by Councilman Carr, the meeting adjourn,
the hour of adjournment being 9 :40 o'clock p. tn�Motiorvcarried.
