An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of
said City on the above date. The Deputy City Clerk reported that a copy of
the Notice of Adjournment had been posted as required by law, and that
affidavit of posting was on file. Prior to calling the meeting to order, those
present joined in pledging allegiance to the Flag of the United States of
Ame rica.
The meeting was then called to order by Richard G. Nagel, Mayor
pro tempore, the hour being 7 :00 0' clock p. m.
ROLL CALL
Councilmen Present: Carr, Frederick, McElhaney and
Mayor pro tem Nagel;
Councilmen Absent: Mayor McGill.
CITY MANAGER SAILORS MADE REPORTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Reported that bids had been received for draperies for the
Joslyn Adult Center as follows:
Reforma Screencrafts Inc.
Barker Bros.
$1, 828. 50
$1, 731. 86
Due to the superior quality of the materials as submitted by Reforma
Screencrafts, Inc. , it was recommended that the bid of said company be
accepted.
Motion was made by Councilman Frederick, seconded by Councilman
Carr that the bid of Reforma Screencrafts, Inc. , in the amount of $1, 828. 50
for draperies for the Joslyn Adult Center be accepted and that a purchase order
in that amount be issued to said company. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Carr, Frederick, McElhaney and
Mayor pro tem Nagel;
Noes: Councilmen None;
Absent: Mayor McGill.
2. Requested permission to purchase the following items for the
Joslyn Adult Center:
Kiln
Lamps
$240.00
$ 80.00
Motion was made by Councilman Frederick, seconded by Councilman
Carr that permission be granted to purchase kiln and lamps for the Joslyn Adult
Center at a total cost of approximately $320. 00. Motion carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Carr, Frederick, McElhaney and
Mayor pro tem Nagel;
Noes: Councilmen None;
Absent: Mayor McGill.
3. Requested permission to purchase the following from Leonard's
Department Store for the Joslyn Adult Center:
1- Refrigerator (Frigidaire FPDA 16 TK) $255. 00
1 -Range (RCD 630K -208V) 265. 00
1 -Base (B30) 45. 00

$587. 60

Motion was made by Councilman Frederick, seconded by Councilman
McElhaney that permission be granted to purchase from Leonard's Department
Store one refrigerator, one range and one range base at a total cost of $587. 60.
Motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Carr, Frederick, McElhaney and
Mayor pro tem Nagel;
Noes: Councilmen None;
Absent: Mayor McGill.
4. Reported that bids had been received for furniture for the Joslyn
Adult Center and requested permission to purchase these furnishings from the
following firms in amounts as shown:
Herk Edwards, Inc. (settees and stack tables) $6, 708. 42
Lauman Tables, Inc. (coffee tables) 248. 56
Acme Recreational Products (pool table) 884. 00
American Seating Co. (craft tables, stools, 1, 798.16
multi -use tables)
Motion was made by Councilman McElhaney, seconded by Council-
man Frederick that permission be granted for the purchase of furnishings for
the Joslyn Adult Center as presented above in the total amount of $9, 639. 14.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Carr, Frederick, McElhaney and
Mayor pro tem Nagel;
Noes: Councilmen None;
Absent: Mayor McGill.
At this time, budget study sessions were held with the Recreation
Department and Recreation Commission; also with the Engineering Department.
No further business to come before the Council at this session, it
was moved by Councilman Frederick, seconded by Councilman Carr, that the
meeting adjourn, the hour of adjournment being 9 :30 0' clock p. m. Motion
carried.
