1964 JUN 13 CC MINX 1'734 E1 Segundo, California June 13, 1964 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City on the above date. The Clerk reported that a copy of the Notice of Adjournment had been posted as required by law, and affidavit of posting was on file. Prior to calling the meeting to order, those present joined in the pledge of allegiance to The Flag of the United States of America, following which an invocation was given by Councilman Robert W. Frederick. The meeting was then called to order by Herman L. McGill,' Mayor, the hour being 1:00 o'clock p.m. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present: Frederick, and Mayor Councilmen Absent: None. Kimport, McElhaney, Nagel McGill; The Mayor announced that the public hearing on the, proposed budget would continue. FIRE DEPARTMENT, PAGE #29. It was moved by Council- man Frederick, seconded by Councilman Kimport, the budget for the Fire Department as shown on Page #29, be approved. Motion carried. BUILDING SAFETY, PAGES #32 AND #33. It was moved by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Councilman McElhaney, that the Build- ing Safety budget as shown on Pages #32 and #33 be approved. Motion carried. CIVIL DEFENSE, PAGE #34. Mayor McGill questioned the $4, 000 under Capital Outlay (Communications) and was informed this amount was for an emergency generator to take care of City Hall, Library and the Yard. Complete plan is to be submitted to Council at a later date for consideration. Thereafter, it was moved by Councilman McElhaney, seconded by Councilman Kimport, the Civil Defense budget as set forth on Page #34 be approved. Motion carried. ENGINEERING, Pages #35 and #36. Moved by Councilman Kimport, seconded by Councilman McElhaney, the Engineering budget as set forth on Pages #35 and #36, be approved. Motion carried. STREET DEPARTMENT, PAGES #37, #38, #39, #40, #41 and #42. Motion made by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Councilman Frederick, the budget for the Street department as set forth on Pages #37, #38, #39, #40, $41 and #42, be approved. Motion carried. CURBS AND SIDEWALKS - Page #43. Moved by Councilman Kimport, seconded by Councilman Frederick, that the budget for curbs and sidewalks as set forth on Page #43 be approved. Motion carried. TRAFFIC SAFETY - PAGE #44. It was moved by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Councilman McElhaney, that the Traffic Safety Budget as set forth on Page #44, be approved.. Motion carried. STORM DRAINS, PAGE #45. Moved by Councilman Frederick, seconded by Councilman McElhaney, that the Storm Drain budget as set forth on Page #45 be approved. Motion carried. SANITATION, PAGE #46. Moved by Councilman Frederick, seconded by Councilman Kimport, the budget on Sanitation as set forth on Page #46 be approved. Motion carried. REFUSE DISPOSAL, PAGE #47. Mayor McGill stated he would like to go over the contract with the Disposal Company, after which it was moved by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Councilman Frederick, the budget for Refuse Disposal as set forth on Page #47, be approved. Motion carried. ac X 1735 CITY GARAGE - PAGES #48 and #49. It was moved by Council- man Frederick, seconded by Councilman Nagel, that the budget for the City Garage as set forth on Pages #48 and #49, be approved. Motion carried. PARKS AND RECREATION, - PAGES #50 thru #57. Mr. Jack Ruis, Director of Parks and Recreation, explained the operation of the department. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Councilman McElhaney, the Parks and Recreation budget be approved, subject to a meeting with the Recreation Commission regarding recreation programming. It was then moved by Councilman Nagel, seconded by Council- man McElhaney, the meeting adjourn until Tuesday, June 16, 1964 at 7 :30 o'clock p.m. in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of E1 Segundo, California.
