1956 FEB 20 CC MINr-- 804 E1 Segundo, California February 20, 1956 CONSENT M SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUND09 CALIFORNIA, AND WAIVER OF NOTICE We, the undersigned, being all of the members of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby consent and agree that a special meeting of said Council shall be held in the Council Chamber in the City Hall of said City, beginning at the hour of 7:00 ofclock P.M. on Monday, the 20th day of February, 1956, for the purpose of Considering and introducing an ordinance imposing a City sales and use tax and providing for the performance by the State Board of Equalization of all functions incident to the administra- tion, operation and collection of such sales and use tax. We hereby waive any further, other, or additional notice of the time and place of said meeting and consent that same be held at the time and place above stated. Dated this 20th day of February, 1956, and filed in the office of the City Clerk prior to the time set for said meeting. J ; Councilman / /, .'i.. �. , 1Al 825 E1 Segundo, California February 20, 1956 A special meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P.M. on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Neva M. Elsey, City Clerk (the Mayor being absent) pursuant to the foregoing consent to special meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, and waiver of notice. Moved by Councilmen Gordon, seconded by Councilman Frederick, that Councilman Swanson be appointed Mayor pro tem. Carried. Councilman Swanson thereupon assumed the duties of the Mayor. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present: Frederick, Gordon and Mayor pro tem Swanson; Councilmen Absent: Baker and Mayor Selby. The Mayor pro tem announced that as set forth in the foregoing consent to special meeting and waiver of notice, the purpose of this meeting was to consider and introduce an ordinance imposing a City sales and use tax and pro- viding for the performance by the State Board of Equalization of all functions incident to the administration, operation and collection of such sales and use tax. The City Clerk announced that notice of the holding of this meeting had been mailed to each member of the City Council and to the Press, and that affidavit of such mailing is on file in her office. Following consideration of the various provisions of said Ordinance Councilman Gordon introduced Ordinance No. 479, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALI- FORNIA, IMPOSING A CITY SALES AND USE TAX; PROVIDING FOR THE PERFORMANCE BY THE STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OF ALL FUNCTIONS IN- CIDENT ID THE ADMINISTRATION, OPERATION AND COLLECTION OF THE SALES AND USE TAX HEREBY IMPOSED: AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLA- TIONS THEREOF., which was read.
