PARE17i, PRESIDING JUDGE, The Municipal Court, Inglewood, Cali - _ornia, dated July 29, 1953, enclosing therewith report of fines and fees collected in said Municipal Court for the various cities included in the Inglewood Judicial District, and showing a comparison of said amount with that collected for the year of 19;1 - 1952. AL12;, GEILER, dated August 1, 1953, calling attention to the traffic hazard faced by pedestrians and especially school children who are compelled to traverse Center Street between Mariposa Avenue and Grand Avenue, end recommending that. the City Council take action to cause sidewalks to be installed on all heavily trav:,rsed streets in -residential areas where sidewalks presently do not ev st, and especially that portion of Center Street herein referred to. The Council discussed the matter at some length, and it appearing that the construction of such sidewalks could best be handled under the provisions of the Street ii- ,r)rovement Act of 1911, and the Director of Public Works having of- fered so to do, by general consent, he was directed to address a conariunication to each property owner on Center Street between. REPORTS OF STAL ^`Dii1G CO12,1ITTE. 3 CouncilL,ian Baker, representative of the City Council on the Recreation Cormssion stated that at a meeting of said Cormission held on last Thursday evening discussion was had relative to the hazards connected with the wading pool at Grand Avenue Parr: due to the fact that the children using sane do not have proper supervision and that said Recreation Cormission recommended the pool be drained and filled with sand for use by children as a sand pit. Fol- lotiring discussion, by general consent the matter was taken under consideration until the ne_,ct regular meeting of the City Council to be held August 12, 1953, and in the meantLme the Director of Public Works was requested to make a check respectin.- the amount of supervision presently being given at said pool. Kennedy, County Counsel, which con.: kr ication stated as follows: I. Case No. 502681, Defense Plant Corporation v. County of Los '�ngeles, and. No. 502685, Defense Plant Corporation and Standard Oil v. County of Los Angeles. In both of these cases a request for entry of judgment was filed May 20, 1949• 3oth cases have been deaded in our files and no further action in either case is expected. 2. Case _T1 . 570823, Pan Ar eri car. World Airways v. Count- of Los Angeles and 'o. 541391 with the same title are both inactive pending the outcore of the test case under the same title, 52578'• The test case is now before Judge Daniel Stevens for settlement of findings. Judgment has been ordered in favor of the defendants, and we have no indication as to iv'-ether the plaintiff intends to appeal. In both of the older cases there is a stipulation on file extending tire to plead until ten days after notice to do so. In 541391, it is also stipulated that the time of trial be extended. 3. In S. M. C. 3469, Douglas Aircraft v. County of ios Angeles, a demurrer was sustained and judgment entered April 23, 1953, in favor of the defendants including the City of El Segundo.
