A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City,
on the above date, having been called to order at 7:00 P. M. by William
R. Selby (Wednesday, the lst day of January, 1947, the day upon which
said - Council ordinarily-would:-have met being a legal holiday).
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Baker, Peterson, Thompson and Mayor Selby.
Councilmen Absent: Skelley. - - ---- - - - - -- -
READING OF 11INUTES OF PREVIOUS AEETING.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 31st day
of December, 1946, were read, and no errors or omissions having been
noted, it was moved by Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilman
Thompson, the minutes of said meeting be approved as recorded. Carried.
' IRITTE T COMI,IUNICATIONS .
Written communications, received from the persons, firms or
corporations hereinafter named, were read to the Council and were dis-
posed of in the manner indicated, following reference to each, as
follows:
LOUIS PURSER, dated January 2, 1947, being application for
employment by the City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed.
Councilman Skelley appeared at the meeting at this time, the hour
being 7:15 o'clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat at the
Council table.
JOHN RAYMOND STALLINGS, dated 12 -24 -1946, being application for
Automobile for Hire Driver's permit.
Said application appearing to be complete in all respects, and
the Chief of Police having recommended the permit applied for be
granted, it was moved by Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilman
Baker, that, subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 283 of the City
of E1 Segundo and pursuant to the application therefor filed with
this Council this date, John Raymond Stallings be and he is hereby
granted a permit to drive, operate or be in charge of any passenger
carrying or motor propelled vehicle defined in said ordinance; provided,
however, this Council reserves the right to revoke the permit herein
granted, when, in its discretion, such revocation would appear to be
in the public interest. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Baker, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and
Mayor Selby.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None. -
YaL -; CAB COMPANY OF L, SE sUNDO, over the signature of Edward L.
Bennett, dated December 31, 1946, being submission of revised rate
schedules for the taxicab service of said Company and requesting the
Council's approval of the same.

It appearing from examination of the proposed revised rate schedules
of the said Yellow Cab Company, that a reduction in taxicab fares is
proposed, it was moved by Councilman Thompson, seconded by Councilman
Baker, that the rate schedules of Yellow Cab Company, filed with this
Council this date, be and the same are hereby ratified and approved.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Baker, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and mayor
Selby.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.

Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.

No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Councilman Baker, seconded by Councilman Skelley, the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
