October 28, 1946.
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El
Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall
of said City, on the above date, having been called to order at 12:00
o'clock Noon by William R. Selby, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Baker, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and Mayor Selby.
Councilmen Absent: None. '
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 23rd day of October,
1946s having been read, and no error or emission having been noted, it was
moved by Councilman Thompson, seconded by Councilman Peterson, the minutes
of said meeting be approved a& recorded. Carried.
By general consent the regular order of business was dispensed with.
The matter of allowing the Captain of Police additional compensation
for assuming the responsibilities of supervision of the Police Department
during the vacation and leave of absence period of the Chief of Police,
which said matter was taken under advisement at the last regular meeting
of the Council, was given consideration, and at the conclusion of lengthy
discussion on the subject, it was moved by Councilman Baker, seconded by
Councilman Peterson, that Resolution No. 857, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.
812 OF SAID COUNCIL ( THE SALARY RESOLUTION)
ENTITLED: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND
ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OR PAY OF VARIOUS
MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY,
AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS AND PARTS
OF RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS IN CONFLICT THMIX'WITH.",
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF FEBRUARY,
A. D. 1946, BY AMENDING SUBDIVISION 2 OF SECTION 1,
AND PARAGRAPH B OF SUBDIVISION 6 THERE'Ur,
which was read, be adopted. Said resolution was passed, approved and
adopted by the following vote, to —wit:
Ayes: Councilmen Baker, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and Mayor Selby.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
Councilman Skelley recommended to the Council that, owing to the vast
amount of work and planning required to decorate the City for the Christmas
holiday period in the manner contemplated and discussed sometime ago, the
more elaborate decorations be not contracted for this year but that it be
discussed further next year and.at a date early enough to permit of appro-
priate planning and the obtaining of bids thereon. He recommended further
that in so far as it is practicable, the decorations used in former years
be used again this year.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Baker, seconded by Councilman Thompson, the meeting adjourn.
Carried.
