Mr. Edward'.A. Pitts addressed the Council, stating that he represented
Pauley.Brothers and requested that the Council -in the consideration of its
proposed Zoning Ordinance give thought to reasonable provisions for the
drilling of oil and /or gas wells within the City of El Segundo. He stated
that he and his principals have no objections to zoning, they agree that
improved residential property should be protected, that it is possible to
drill oil wells, and when drilling.is completed, remove the derricks and
landscape the drill sites so that they present no objectionable features.
He felt,.however, that two acres, which figure he heard- .mentioned at -the
last public meeting on zoning, is insufficient area upon which to,drill
eight wells for the purpose of draining forty acres, and he urged that
the two acre drill site limitation be seriously considered.
