A regular meeting of the City Couhcil'af the Cityzof-El Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of'the City Hall of-said City on the above date, having been called to order at 7 :0C"o'clock P.M. by William R. Selby, Mayor. ROLL CALF.'. t Councilmen Present: Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and Mayor Selby. Councilmen Absent: Baker. READING OF -MIN= OF PREVIOUS MWING. 'The minutes of the regular meeting held December 4, 1946; having been read, and no errors or omissions having been noted; it was moved by Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilman Thompson, the nues mit of said meeting be approved as recorded, Carried, WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS"; Written communications, received from the persons, firms or corporations hereinafter named, were read to the Council and were disposed of in the manner indicated, following reference to each, as.f6llows: 'E.' Acting Building Inspector Locke'haviiig `recommended the`'permit applied for be granted,, it was moved by Councilman Skelley, seconded by Councilman Peterson, the following resolution -'be adopted: RESOLVED, that =the application. of E. H ;''Phillips, received December 11th, 1946, for a permit to maintain and occupy a house trailer'on the property located at 134- Sierra Street, E1 Segundo, be received and placed on fi.16 in the office of the City Clerk for the purpose of identification and reference: AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in view of the recommenddtion of the Acting Building Inspector, that,-the City Council hereby grants a temporary permit, revocable- at any-time by the said Council, upon fifteen days written notice to the permittee, E. H. Phillips, to keep and maintain a house trailer on the property hereinabove described; said permit being subject to the.-provisions of Ordinance No. 223 of the City of EL Segundo and ordinances supplementary thereto or amen- datory thereof; Provided, further, that this permit shall automatically lapse and become void, unless sooner rei6ke'd, upon the 11th day of March,'1947,'by limitation. The foregoing resolution was 'adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and Mayor Selby. _ Noes: Councilmen None.' Acting Building Inspector Locke having recommended the permit be granted, it was moved by Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilman Thompson the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the application of Mrs, Ethel Peal, dated December 8, 1946, for a permit to maintain and occupy a house trailerion the property located at 114- Sierra Street,, E1 Segundo, be received.and; placed on file in the office of the -City Clerk, for the purpose of identification and reference: AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in view of the recommendation of the Acting Building Inspector, that the City Council hereby grants a temporary_permit, revocable at any time by the said Council upon fifteen days written.notice tq.,the.permittee, Mrs, Ethel Peal, to keep and maintain.a -house trailer on the property hereinabove described; said permit being subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 22.3 of the-:.Cit of. AND SPECIAL ' C0MTTEHS - Councilman Skelley.reported; upon his.attendance at the meeting of the Shoreline Planning-Commission held in Long Beach,- California, December 6th and 7th, 1946, and also upon his attendance at the meeting of the Imperial Highway Association,,held at El- Centro,.California, December"7., 1946. In connection with the latter he stated that -.the improvement of Imperial Highway between Los Angeles Count. and Imperial County is progress- ing slowly but surely; that Supervisors from three Southern California Counties were in attendance at the.-session,-,and that�W.Ainsworth, feature writer of the Los Angeles Times, also wag in attendance at said meeting and that said tos Angeles Times recently carried Mr. Ainsworth's report on the meeting. T City Attorney Woodworth reported rgceipt of,Authorizations No$._750 4nd 1089, dated December 6th and Member,4t4,respectively, 19460 requesting ;,permission to make-certain-changes on the,1-946- Asse3sment*Ro120 affecting ­certain property within the City.of El Segundo, described in said requests. It was moved by Councilman-Peterson, seconded by Councilman Thompson and unanimously carried that the following resolution be adopted: - '- MBOLVED, that the City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized to approve on behalf of the City_of E1 Segundo, California, cancellation authorization No. 750, authorizing cancellation of: Assessment No. 382449, Vol. 204, for .$300.00 net (AE), value furniture on account of erroneous assessment to Layton Johnson. Not owned, possessed or controlled by assessee on March 4, 1946. Moved by Councilman Peterson? seconded by Councilman Thompson and unanimously carried that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized to approve'on behalf of the City "of ET Segundo, California, cancellation authorization No. 1089, authorizing cancellation of: Erroneous assessment of improvements in amount of $590.00 located on the west 89.53 feet of the south 40 feet of Lot 6, Block 103, assessed to Virgil D. Swain, as per R.E. Vol. 121, Code 2680, M.B. 154, Page 37, Parcel 34, account same not located on this real property on March 4, 1946. City Engineer Hutchins filed his written report dated December 11, 1946, with respect to his attendance at the first meeting of. the Engineer- ing Advisory Committee in the matter of the California Water Service Com- pany, et al, vs City of Compton,et al, Superior Court Case No. 506806. Said report was read to the Council and by general consent ordered filed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Councilman Thompson introduced Ordinance No. 305, entitled: which was read.
