this Council April 2lat, 1943, requesting the installation of traffic stop
signs at Mariposa Avenue and Sheldon Street, the Chief of Police reported
that he had made a survey of the locality as to visibility, which he finds is
good; that he also checked accident report records in the Police Department
and finds a record of only one accident occurring at that location since
1937; that installations of traffic stops, in fact, the removal of many, have
been recommended by the Federal Goverment for the duration; that if the
drivers of automobiles observe the caution which a prudent driver should
observe, this particular intersection presents no special hazard and that,
therefore, he cannot recommend the installation of traffic stops at this
location, as it is less hazardous than other locations where similar applications
have been denied.
