1942 FEB 27 CC MINQ 42 El Segundo, Calif. February 27th, 1942. An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City on the above date, having been called to order by the City Clerk, the Yayor being absent. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser and Selby. Councilmen Absent: Mayor Binder and Love. Councilman Hesser was unanimously chosen Mayor pro tem and he immediately assumed the duties of the Mayor. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, and unanimously carried, that the regular order of business be dispensed with. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the following resolution be adopted: 'T,=REAS, on Friday, February 20th, 1942, Rudolph John Binder, son of Idayor and Mrs. Peter E. Binder of this City, a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Corps, gave his life for our country in an airplane accident_ while he was engaged in patrol duty protecting the shores of the Pacific Coast from an enemy attack in World War II; AND, V,[HEREAS, this Council and the residents of the City of El Segundo sorrov, with the surviving family in the untimely passing of a young man, who was a native of the City of E1 Segundo; who was beloved by all because of his engaging smile and pleasing personality; who achieved honor and distinction during his scholastic days and who was destined to achieve a brilliant future; NOVA, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, on behalf of all of the residents of said City, does hereby express to the survivors of said Rudolph John Binder, sincere sympathy, and does express the hope, that in consideration of the cause in -which he gave his life, their burden will be lightened; AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the proceedings of the meeting of this Council at which the same is adopted; that a copy thereof be given the press, and that copies thereof be transmitted to the immediate survivors of the deceased. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Selby. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Mayor Binder and Councilman Love. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Resolution No. 605, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF E!, SEGUNDO , CALIFORNIA, CALLII;G AND GIVING NOTICE OF 1THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL IvrTUNTICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 14TH 1AY OF APRIL, 1942, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN MUNICIPAL OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Q 43 Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Selby. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Mayor Binder and Councilman Love. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser and Selby. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Mayor Binder and Councilman Love. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, the meeting adjourn. Carried.
