An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was held in the Council Chamber in the City Hall of.said City on the above date, having been - called to order at 6:30-o'clock P. M. by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL.CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Love, Selby -and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Hesser. Other Officers Present: •R. T. Hutchins - City Engineer. Victor D. McCarthy - City Clerk. By general consent the regular order of business was dispensed with. A letter from The Planning Congress of Los Angeles County, dated May 2nd, 19410 announcing the holding of its regular meeting in Inglewood, May 10th, 1941, was read. . None of the Councilmen indicating a desire to attend said meeting, the communication was ordered placed on file. A letter from The Silver Wing Oil Company, dated April 30th, 19419 was read. The letter requested a release of its.oil well drilling bond:filed in connection with the operation and maintenance of its well known as Guaranty - Wallace No. 1. The City Clerk reported that he has in his file a letter from Frank H. Chilson, dated December 11th, 1940, reporting the satisfactory abandonment of said well, also copy of a letter written by the same official to Silver Wing Oil.Company, dated April 28th, 1941, advising said Company that he had inspected the site of its acid-well and found it to be do a condition in .compliance with Ordinance No. 211 of the City of E1 Segundo. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Selby,seaonded by Councilman Love, the following resolution be adopted: • WHEREAS, Silver. Wing Oil Company, by letter dated April 30th, 1941, has advised this Council of the abandonment of its oil well known as Guaranty -,Wallace No. 1; • AND, WHEREAS, this Council has caused an inspection to be made of the premises upon which said well was drilled; • AND, WHEREAS, the Building Inspector of•the City of _ E1 Segundo has filed with the City Clerk his written report, stating that said well.has been satisfactorily abandone4 in accordanbe with - the provisions of.ordinances of the City of E1 Segundo respecting such matters and the permit granted for the drilling of said well; • NOW, THERZFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo does hereby consent to and approve the abandonment of Silver Wing Oil Company's Guaranty - Wallace No. 1 Well and does hereby consent that the bond of said.permittes, Silver Wing Oil d 9spany with Continental Casualty Company, Bond . No. S 88509 be and the -same is hereby exonerated as to any_ liability accruing with respect to said well subsequent to this date; and • BE IT FURPM RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized to forward a certified copy of this resolution to said Silver.Wing Oil Company and to Continental Casualty Company. K' UMENMON The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: - Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Hesser. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that A. K. Tennis be and he is hereby granted his customary annual two weeks vacation beginning May 12th, 1941, and that in addition thereto, he be granted one week's leave of absence, without pay, from:May 26th to June 2nd, 1941. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow,.Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Hesser. In the matter of procuring an appraisal of municipal properties for insurance purposes, which said matter has heretofore been discussed by the Council and reconsidered at this meeting, it was moved by- Councilman.Loye, - seconded by Councilman Selby, that Marshall & Stevens, Qaluation.Engineers, be and they are hereby authorized to be employed to make a complete classified appraisal of all of the municipal buildings and personal-property of the City of El Segundo, such appraisal to be submitted to the Council in written form, as explained in.the written offer of said firm to perform said service, dated April 15th, 1941, and said firm's letter supplementary thereto dated.April. 23rd, 1941, all at the price named in its said proposal, to -wit: $175.00,. which said appraisal and said price shall include an appraisal of.the City Hall Annex. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilman Hesser.
