The'City Clerk reported as follows: That pursuant to iAstruction given by the-City Council at its last regular meeting he had procured public liability and property damage insurance, with the same insuror and ir_'the same amounts, on motor'vehicles of the City of El Segundo which had been insured during the prior year, and that the cost thereof will be $71.71 less than the prior year's premiun; however, the total cost would be $472.92, dite to the fact that the new truck purchased for the Park Department would be added to'the policy. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the action of the City Clerk in placing the City of E1 Segundo *rotor vehicle public liability and property damage insurance with the Concordia Fire Insurance Company and the Metropolitan Casualty Insurance Company, as reported to this Council this date, be and the same is hereby ratified and approved. That he had procured quotations for painting the interior of the Police Department headquarters, said quotations being -$67.50 and x$81.00 respectively. ' P 91. 4_' The Council believing the necessary work could be done more economically by purchasing the paint and hiring its om employees, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the painting of the interior of the Police Department headquarters be prosecuted by force account under the supervision of the City Engineer. Donaldson had called attention to*the fact that an advertising sign recently erected adjacent to the Northwesterly corner of �l Segundo Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard obstructs the vision of motorists-enterin�_- Sepulveda Boulevard from the ,pest; also that the boulevard stop sign at the lorthwest corner of El Segundo Boulevard and InCleti•.-ood- '2edondo =load had been removed, By general consent these matters were referred to the Police Department. That he had indicated upon a map, which he then presented to the Council for examination, the several parcels of land ;lesterly of Sepulveda Boulevard, which had been offered to the City as probable water well sites, rfr_ich ma?o Liso indicated the price quoted on each. After examination of the said map and a consideration of the prices quoted the City and the time, .convenience, economy and other factors involved, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the City of 21 Segundo purchase from the owners thereof the following described real property, located in the City of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California, to wit: Lots 1, 29 39 4 and 5, of Tract 10058, being a subdivision of Lot.1,.Block 115, E1 Segundo Sheet No. 5, as per map recorded in Book 20, Pages 114 and 115 of ';laps. Records of Los Angeles County, Califor- nia, for the sum of s "1000.00, said property to be.subject to the following, to -grit: Conditions, restrictions and reserva- tions, if any, of record, which are usual to real property within the City of El Segundo; unpaid taxes, if any, provided the amount thereof is not in excess of 4 ?25.00; AND, BE IT FUR =.-'R M- EDSOLV, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to open an escrow for the consurnation of such purchase in the Security -First National Bank of Los Angeles, Inglewood Branch, and to attend to any details necessary in order to com._ulete such escrow; ATTD, BE IT - 7MT!TR RESOLVED, that a warrant on the ':later FJorks Fund of the City*of El Segundo, payable to the order of said Security- First*Nationnl Bank of Los Angeles, for the sum of $1100.00 be drawn and delivered to said Bank: as a deposit to cover the requirements to be met on the part of said City under the provisions of such escrow, it being understood that the City wil:1 pay the 'new ormer fee of $5.00, all the escrow costs and charges, the*cost of title insurance policy and such other costs incident to such escrow as is usual and customary for the purchaser to pay; A??D; :`E IT TRTT.r RESOLVED, that the City Council Hereby finds and determines•that•the said real property is suitable and desirable for municipal purposes and that same. should therefore be ac ,,wired and that the price to be paid therefor as hereinabove-stated • is a fair price to said City. P 92 "1 City Engineer Hutchins reported as follows: That Colonel Barnitz, Manager of Los Angeles "irport, following the recent conference had with him by the ?Mayor, City Clerk and the City Engineer, had telephoned him stating that ?Major Hurd had given assurance that orders given by him to army and navy flyers to proceed .'!esterly after leaving said Airport until-the planes they are piloting attain an altitude of at least 1000 feet _before making turns to the left, will be respected; Teat 1Ir. Davis of the Division of Highways of the State of California has advised him that the only traffic signal which 1he'State would consider installing at Sepulveda Boulevard and El Segundo Boulevard would be a traffic actuated signal, but that before consenting to such installation the Department would require a traffic count at the expense of the City, such cost to be deducted from the Gas Tax Funds allocated to the City of El Segundo. By general consent said City Engineer was directed to authorize the traffic count to be made at the City's expense as indicated; That he and Councilman Gerow had made an inspection of that certain municipal building located on Lots 21 and 221 Block 57, E1 Segundo, and recommended that a sink be installed in the•building; that an addition be made to the rear thereof and that the toilet facilities now installed in a snail building detached from the main building be installed in an addition to said main building; that broken window lights be replaced, as well as the front doors and that the trim on the front of the building be repainted; that it is estimated the `cost of all of such work will approximate X250.00, Loved by h?ayor Binder, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the renovation and repairs to that certain municipal building located on Lots 21 and 22, Block 57, as recommended this date by Councilman Gerow and City Engineer Hutchins, be.and the same are hereby authorized, and the City Engineer be and he is hereby directed to proceed therewith by force account, the cost thereof not to exceed $250.00.
