A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at.7:00 otclock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder,
Uayor.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: None.

The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 16th day of T&a_rch,
1938, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it ryas moved by
Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman. Selby, the minutes be approved as
read. Carried.
WRITTEN 0011. MICA TIONS.
The following cormlunications, which were read to the Council, were
disposed of in the manner indicated following the reference to each herein-
after:
SVAI,TaARD OIL COITADTY OF CALIFORNIA,- dated March 21st, 1938,
applying for permission to conduct a seiimographic survey in the shoulders
of certain of the public streets within the City bf El Segundo, indicated
upon a sketch attached to said corz=ication. Moved by Councilman
Hesser, seconded by Councilman Selby, the following resolution be adopted:
bY=,S, Standard Oil Company of California, has
requested permission of this Council-to make a seismographic
survey in the shoulders of certain of the public streets
within the City of El Segundo, as more particularly indicated
upon a sketch attached to said request; and
V=MAS, this Council has no objection to the making
of such survey upon the terms and conditions as hereinafter
stated;
NOW 'IEMI— EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said Standard Oil
Company be and it is hereby authorized to make said survey,
in so far as this City may legally give said Company
permission so to do, provided, however, that by proceeding
under the provisions of this permission, said Company shall
automatically thereby agree and be bound:
1.- To indemnify the City of El Segundo, California,
and each and all of its officers, agents, servants and
employees from and against any and all damage or claims of
damage of any kind, nature or description whatsoever which
may arise out of or be due indirectly or directly to the
making of said survey or any act in connection therewith; and
2.- That said Standard Oil Company of California shall
immediately pay upon proper demand therefor, any and all
damages which may be ocdasioned to either persons or property
.or both and which may be suffered by, through or on account
of.or which. may arise out of.the making of said survey or the
doing or failure to do of any act in connection therewith.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:

Absent: Councilmen None.
