1 (2)0-211 El Segundo, California. March 3rd, 1938. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, ein the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, Mayor, ROLL CALL, Councilmen Present: Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: Gerow. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 23rd day of February, 1938,. were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, the minutes be approved as read. Carried. 41RITTEN COh'MIINICATIONS. The following co=met cations, which were read to the Council, were disposed of in the manner indicated following the reference to each herein- after: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, LTD., dated February 28th, 1938, advising that its electric meter located at the Water Department pump house on Lomita Street, between Grand and Holly Avenues, has been tested and found to be registering 7.8f slow, consequently said Company had found it necessary to bill the City in the sum of $162.78, representing the difference bets -Teen the amount heretofore billed the City for consumption through said meter during the last three months and the Company's estimate of what the billing should have been had the meter been operating correctly. LOS ANGELES C_ TER, RESERVE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITEED STATES, 1938 National Defense Week Committee, dated February 24th, 1938, inviting the attention of the City Council to the provisions"of Section 195 of the Military Code of the State of California respecting the absence of public officers on military or naval duty, and requesting that the Council direct all department heads under its jurisdiction to comply vrith the provisions of said section until further instructed. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the letter of Reserve Officers Association of United States, dated February 24th, 1938, over the signature of Andrew J. Copp, Jr., Chairman 1938 National Defense Week Co=ittee,•be received and filed, and that any officers or employees of the City of E1 Segundo falling within the purview of Section 195 of the Military Oode of the State-of California, Statutes 1933, Page 2501, be and .they are hereby authorized to "absent themselves from their regular duties or service vrhi16 engaged iii-the performance of 'ordered mixtary or naval duty as contemplated in the law.
