January 26th, 1938.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
by the Deputy City Clerk, the Mayor being absent.- Councilman Selby
was unanimously chosen Mayor pro tem and he immediately assumed the duties
of the Mayor.
ROLL CALL,
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser and Selby.
Councilmen Absent: Love and Mayor Binder.
READING OF M31UTES OF PRE'iiIOUS M1MTING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 19th day of January,
1938, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, the minutes be approved
as read. Carried.
'WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS.
The following cormmnications, which were read to the Council, were
disposed of in the manner indicated following the reference to each herein-
after:
OSBORN A. LeBRUN, dated January 20th, 1938, being an application for
employment with the City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed.
COUNTY OF.SAN DIEGO, dated January 20th, 1938, advising that it has
on hand 273 metal ballot boxes, which it desires to dispose of at $2.00 each.
Ordered filed.
CALIFORNIA COOPERATIVE UNIT #259, dated January 19th, 1938, thanking
the City Council for the favors extended it in the past, and setting forth
some of the difficulties with which said Unit is confronted at this time.
By general consent Councilman Gerow was appointed a committee of one to
contact said Unit and ascertain if and in what way the Council may be of
assistance to the Unit in solving its present problems.
C. T. JOHNSON, Mayor, City of San Bernardino, inviting members of
the Council to attend the dedication of the new San Bernardino City Hall
on Saturday, February 5th, 1938, at 2:00 P. M. It appearing that no member
of the Council could attend said services, the Clerk was instructed to so
advise 11r. Johnson.

Consideration of the bid received January 19th, 1938, offering to sell
to the City of E1 Segundo ten acres, more or less, of real property in Section
7, within said City, having been deferred until this meeting, the matter was
brought up for discussion, following which it was moved by Councilman Hesser,

seconded by Councilman Gerow, that further consideration of the purchase
by the City of E1 Segundo of real property in Section 7 within said City,
be deferred for the period of one week. Carried.
PA= BILLS.
Mayor pro tem Selby appointed Councilman Hesser as a member pro tear
of the Finance and Records Committee..
The following demands, having had the approval of the Committee on
Finance and Records, were read:

Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Gerow, the demands

Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilman Love and Mayor Binder.

No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, the meeting
adjourn. 'Carried.
