A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Yayor.

. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 6th day of October,
1937, were read. No errors or omissions anpearing, it was moved by
Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, the minutes be approved -as
read. Carried.

temporary revocable permit to lay a pipe line under and across Sepulveda
Boulevard and under and along Grand Avenue, v.-ithin the City of El Segundo,
as delineated upon a certain .ap which accompanied said communication,
seid pipe line to be used for the purpose of conducting natural gas to
and from certain oil wells ;.esterl;1 of Sepulveda Boulevard and said
Company's gasoline plant easterly of Sepulveda Boulevard.

pertinent information desired by the Council, it was moved by Councilman
Gerow, seconded b;;- Councilman Messer, that action thereon be deferred
until the next regular meeting of this Council. Motion carried unanimously.
RICHFIELD OILJnPO tTION, dated September 23rd, 1937, advising
that the name of its wrell heretofore known as "Elsie No. 3" has been changed
to "LcCray No. 1". Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman
Gerow that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that that certain communication from Richfield
Oil Corporation addressed to Victor D. IO:cCarthy, City Clerk,
and bearing date the 23rd day of 6epter:-:ber, 1937, wherein the
writer of said communication re-�uests that the name of that
certain Tell heretofore 5.esignat6d and 1 --nown as "Elsie No. 3"
be changed.to "McCray No. 111, be received and placed on file
in the office of the City Clerk for purposes of identification

hereby approved and the ',:ayor of the City of El Segundo, in its

with reference to the matter of the adoption by the City Council of new
regulations respecting the drilling of oil wells within the City. However,
no definite conclusions were reached and no action was taken by the Council.
At this point, the hour being 8:15 o'clock P. P:�., the Council took a
reces-- of 15 minutes. At the hour of 8:30 o'clock P. Y. the Council reconvened,
all Councilmen bein�� present and answering roll call.

In the matter of the request of Trustees of E1 Segundo Grammar School
fcr the cooperation of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, respecting
the beautification of E1 z>egundo Grammar School grounds, the City Clerk
advised that the Trustees of E1 Segundo Grammar School or a committee of
said Body will meet with the members of the City Council on P: °onday evening,
October 18th, at the hour of 4 :15 o'clock P. M. at said Grammar School
for the nu_rpose of viewing the grounds and further discussion the proposition.

Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser� that tie
following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that until the further order of this Council,
Frank Chilson be and he is hereby designated and appointed
as Assistant Buildin€ Inspector of the City of El Segundo,
California, to perform such duties in connection with said
office as the Building Inspector, subject to the general
control of this Council, may designate; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said Assistant Building In-
spector shall receive no compensation for his services
rendered as such Assistant Building Inspector and that he
shall hold said position during the pleasure of the City
Council or of the Building Inspector.

The Council's attention was called to the fact that a telephone pole
recently installed by the Southern California Telephone �;ompany.interferes
with the Fire Department's use of a fire hydrant &djacent to the plant of
Inter„p-a.rcraft and Engineering Corporation: also that employees of said,
Corporation park their automobiles too close to said fire hydrant; whereupon
by general consent the matter of causing the tele ^hone pole to be removed, if
necessFry, was referred to the City Engineer and the Fire Chief for attention,
and the correction of the violction of parking regulations at said plant of
said Interstate Engineering and Aircraft Corporation was referred to the
Police Department.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, the meeting adjourn.
