1937 JAN 20 CC MIN262 El Segundo, California. January 20th, 1987. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City-Hall-of-said City, by Peter -E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 13th day of January, 1957, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The following communications, which were read to the Council, were disposed of in the manner indicated following the reference to each herein- after: WALTER C. AINSWORTH, JR., dated January 17th, 1957, being an application for employment by the City of El Segundo. Ordered filed. OLIVER PARK, dated January 14th, 1937, quoting prices on cow manure. Ordered filed. LOS ANGELES COUNTY LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES r dated January 15th, 1957, advising of the 70th Regular Monthly Meeting of said League, to be held at San Fernando, January 21, 1937. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that Mayor Binder and Councilmen Hesser and Gerow be authorised and directed to attend the meeting of the Los Angeles County League of Municipalities, to be held at San Fernando, January 21, 1957, and that they file their demands for their actual and necessary expenses in connection therewith. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Lave, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None. None. None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. K. E. Campbell, City Horticulturist, was present at the meeting and reported that his.Department has been trimming trees in the East acreage .and had.completed construction of several dozen wind breaks, which will be set during the coming week where most needed. The City Clerk advised that Graham Bros. Inc. had requested him to advise the Council of its current prices on road materials as follows: Sand - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $1.19 per ton Gravel -All sizes - - - - - - - - - 1.19 Nos. 2 and 3 Crushed Rock - - - - - 1.55 No. 4 Crushed Rock - - - - - - - - - 1.45. The Council recommended that when the City is again in the market for rock, that before buying, quotations be obtained from the several suppliers who have quoted prices thereon. Attorney,George Lawrence, who was substituting at this meeting for City Attorney Woodworth, reported that notice had been received that April 20th, 1937 is the trial date set for hearing that Superior Court Case No. 406816, entitled: "City of Los Angeles, a Municipal Corporation, and Department of Water and Power of the City of Los Angeles, plaintiff, vs. City of El Segundo, defendant" PAYING BILLS. The following demands, having had the approval of the Committee on Finance and Records, were read: Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the demands be allowed_ and warrants drawn on and paid out of the respective funds covering the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love, Selby and Mayor Binder. Noes: Councilmen None. Absent: Councilmen None, NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Love, that E1 Segundo Recreational Council be and it is hereby granted permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on the evenings of February 12th and February 26th, 1937, for the purpose of holding a dance, no charge to be made for such use. Carried. Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Love, that the painting of a white center line stripe in Rosecrans Avenue, between Inglewood— Redondo Road and the Westerly City Limits of the City of E1 Segundo, be and the same is hereby authorized; that in this connection the City cooperate with the City of Manhattan Beach, who will cause the work to be done on behalf of the City of El Segundo, and that after its* * completion, the.City.of.E1 Segundo pay its share of the cost, which shall not exceed the sum of $35.00.
