A regular meeting of the City Council of the-City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Mlayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Gerow and Love.
READING OF MLNUPFS OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 7th day of October,
1936, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman He.cser, that the minutes be -
approved as read. Carried.
TRITTEN CO *'111UNICATIONS.
The following communications, which were read to the Council, were
disposed of in the manner indicated following the reference to each
hereinafter:
ED W. HOPKI�dS, COUNTY ASSESSOR, County of Los Angeles, dated October
7th, 1936, setting forth certain information as to assessed valuation
of real estate within the City of E1 Segundo, upon which oil derricks
have been erected, which information had previously been requested from
said official. Ordered filed.
FLOYD L. INGRAM, dated October 13, 1936, being an application for
employment by the City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed for future reference.
ORAL COI)MUNICATIONS.
None.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
None.
Councilman Gerow appeared at the meeting at this time, the hour being
7:15 o'clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat at the Council table.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMITTEES.
The City Clerk reported having made inquiries of insurance companies
relative to procuring certain public liability insurance desired by the
Council, but that said companies had not yet been able to secure the
information desired.
Mr. K. E. Campbell, Horticulturist, reported as to condition of
trees within the City, stating that during the past week sixteen wind
breaks had been erected for trees on West Palm Avenue; that in a recent
survey of trees throughout the City, he found 169 trees, which in his
opinion should be. replaced. He further requested'the ""Purchase of a
small spray gun for use in spraying trees.
Following discussion, by general eonsent, Mr. Kampbell was authorized
to contact various nurseries, to ascertain where trees might be purchased
to the best advantage, and to file his demand for mileage charge incurred
in making such investigation.

Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the
purchase of a small spray gun for use in spraying trees, be authorized, at
a cost of not to exceed $2.00, plus California State Sales Tax. Carried by
the folloring vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilman Love.

None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was
moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the meeting
adjourn until Friday, the 16th day of October, 1936, at the hour of 4 :15
o'clock P. 19. Carried.
