A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
Califor-::ia, was called to order at 7:00 ofclock'P. M. on the above date,
in the.Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,
Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Love.
&EkDING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 30th day of September,
1936, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the minutes be
approved cis read. Carried.
WFITTEN COLMIUNICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as.indicated:
LOCAL OPTION LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA, dated October 3rd,. 1936, seeking
the Council's endorsement of local liquor control, which will appear on
the November 3rd election ballot as Proposition No. 9. Ordered filed.
GLETDALE MOTORCYCLE CLUB, inviting City officials to attend the hill
climb in Glendale, Sunday, October 11th, 1936. Ordered filed.
CONSOLIDATED HOUSE MOVERS.. dated October 7th, 1936, being an application
for a permit to move a one story frame dwelling house from its present
location No. 143 Eucalyptus Drive to Lot 8, Block 89, El Segundo.
The City Clerk reported that all fees have been paid and deposits made,
and the Building Inspector reported having inspected the building and found
it to conform with building ordinances of the City of E1 Segundo in the
location to which it is proposed to be moved, whereupon it was moved by-
Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the following
resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that Consolidated House Movers, be and it is
hereby granted permission to move a one story frame dwelling
house from its present location at No. 143 Eucalyptus Drive,
within the City of El Segundo to Lot 8, Block 89, Within said
City. Said building shall be moved on the 9th day of October,
1936, and during the process of such moving to be routed as
follows: West on Franklin Avenue to Main Street, north on
Ruin Street to Pine Avenue, east on Pine Avenue to Sheldon
Street, north on Sheldon Street to a point approximately directly
east of Lot 8, Block 892 thence across private property to point
of destination; provided, however, that the permit is granted
subject to the observance by said house movers of'all provisions
of all ordinances of the City of El Segundo respecting the.moving,
of'buildings within said City and the use of the public streets
thereof.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote:

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
Mayor Binder reported that the Girls and the Spartan Night Baseball Teams
had ceased playing.for this season.
The City Clerk reported that pursuant to previous direction of the Council,
a letter had been addressed by him to the Assessor of Los Angeles County,
requesting certain information respecting changes in land values of areas
in which oil is discovered and produced; that in response thereto he had
»eceived a communication from the Assessor of Los Angeles County, dated
)ctober 6th, 1936, respecting two of the questions propounded, which letter he
°ead to the Council. Said letter stated also that the two questions
ma.nswered had been referred to another department for attention.
The City Clerk, pursuant to informal instructions received at the.previous
leeting of the Council, presented to the Council for its consideration ordinances
Jos. 15, 90, 95, 131, 155 and 188 relating in part to public health matters.
'he contents of the said ordinances were thereupon explained to the City Council
)y the City Attorney and the Council proceeded to discuss which of said ordinances
.he Council might request the County Health Officer to enforce under the
provisions of the contract recently executed pursuant to Section 4225 A of the
'olitical Code of the State of California. After such discussion, it was moved

The City Attorney reported,that by agreement with the Attorneys for the

State Sales Tax. Carried by the following vote:

Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that
J. A. Cummings, Captain, E1 Segundo Police Department, be granted his
customary annual two weeks vacation beginning October 10th, 1936, and in
view of the fact that said officer has accumulated overtime equivalent to
seven days, he be permitted to absent himself from-his regular duties for
one additional week.. Carried by the following vote: Councilman
Ayes: Councilmen Gerowo Hesser, Love, Mayor Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Love.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting,
it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
