Californian was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date).`'
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, -by Peter-E. Binder,
Mayor.

Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser,'Love, Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent: None.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 26th day of February,
1956, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved as read.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES&`
The City Clerk reported receipt of a telephone coslmiuiieation from
the office of the District Engineer of the Division of Highwaye of the State
of California, stating that the traffic check to be made'by said Division
of Highways at Imperial Highway and Sepulveda Boulevard-will-'cost approximately
$100.00; that this cost must be paid out of gasolineftaa'funds alledat'ed -'to
the City of El Segundo- and that said Division of Highways reginests- a letUr
from the City of El Segundo consenting to the charge against Work Order
87VM2 of the amount expended for said traffic check.
Moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by Councilman Selby, that -the
City Clerk be authorized and directed to advise the Division of Highways of the
State of California that this Council consents to the charge•against Work
Order 87VM2 of the cost of competing a traffic check at Imperial Highway
and Sepulveda Boulevard by the Division of Highways of the State of California.
Carried by the following vote:

SPECIAL ORDERS,OF BUSINESS.
The hour of 7 :15 o'clock P. M. at this meeting having heretofore been
fixed as the time and date for receivin$•bids for furnishing the City of E1
Segundo one new 4 -door sedan type aut•om¢ bile, the Mayor announced that the
hour of 7-14 o'clock P. M. had arrived end requested that i4 pArson-or persons
present desiring to file bids for furnishing said equipmient,-•do so - immediately. €
The hour of 7:15 otclock P. M. having "arrived, the "Mayor "declared the
reception of bids for furnishing the City of El Segundo one 4'door sedan type
automobile, closed.
The City Clerk thereupon announced that five bids had Been received.

It was thereupon moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser,
,and unanimously carried, that the Council proceed to immediately open, examine and $ -I
publicly declare all of the bids received this date for furnishing the City of
E1 Segundo with one.4 -door sedan type automobile, which said bids were found by
said Council to be as follows, to -tit:

hereby rejected and the City Clerk of the City of El:Segundo is authorized and
directed to return to all bidders the checks or deposits which.accbmpanied their

has heretofore, duly and regularly, from time -to time, taken all
bids received for the construction. and completion of,the El Segundo

under advisement and said bids are now again before"s�id,Council` for

AND WHEREAS,. this Council, in view of vaious developments -'iith
reference to said project, has not as yet.been.able to reach a decision
with reference to the making of any award thereunder;
AND WHEREAS, it appears that under existing condi#ofis additional
time for consideration of said bids is essential;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that all bids received.for the
construction and completion of said Library Building be taken under
further advisement by this Council until the nest regular meeting

The Council gave consideration to the matter of renovating and remodeling
the Westerly end of the City Hall and after discussion, instructed the City
Engineer to ascertain whether or not the job could be.made a Works Progress
Administration Project and to report back to this Council, and the City Clerk
was instructed to advise those organizations which petitioned the Council to
remodel the building, that the cost of remodeling as requested is -in excess
of funds in the City Treasury at this time available for such purpose, but
that the matter is having the - serious consideration of the Council; that if
Works Progress Administration will accept project proposals at this time, this
Council will apply for a grant of Federal funds to aid in the cost and expense
of the proposed work and that the Council will again advise the petitioners
when a final decision is reached as to the disposition.of the petitioners'
requests.
