1936 JUN 03 CC MIN1 I El Segmdo, California. - June 3rd, 1936. A'regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen'Present: Gerow, Hesser., Lore., Selby and Mayor Binder.. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 27th day of May, 1936, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. - _._. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: • J. L. POMEROY, M. D., Los Angeles County Health Officer, dated May 28th, 1936, recommending the repeal of Ordinances Nos. 9 and 1030 inasmuch as both are duplication of state laws. By general consent the communication was referred to the City Attorney for opinion and recommendation. PRESTON D. ORES, dated June lot, 1936, submitting a proposal to audit the accounts of the City of El Segundo for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1937.. Ordered filed. HARRY E. BONNELL AND ASSOCIATES, dated May 27th, 1936, requesting consideration when the matter of employing an auditor to examine the fiscal records of the City of E1 Segundo for the year ending June 30th, 1937, is taken up. Ordered filed. None. None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The City Engineer reported that he had filed with Works Progress Administration at Los Angeles, the City's application for the creation of a Works Progress Administration project to strengthen and remodel a portion of the City Hall; also that he had fJAQd with the Division of Highways of the State of California his estimate of the cost of maintaining major highways within the City of El Segundo for the fiscal year 1936 -1937 as heretofore approved by this Council. The City Attorney reported that pursuant to previous instruction of the Council, he had joined with the-City of Los'Angele6 in its action to compel State Controller Ray L. Riley to pay to cities of the State a certain portion of the taxes on automobiles collected by the State of California in lieu of personal property taxes collected by cities and counties prior to January 1st, 1936.
