A regular greeting of tho City Council of the City of El Segundo, California,
was called to order it 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date,'in the Council.

Councilmen Present: Gerow, Hesser, Love,,Selby and Mayor Binder.
Councilmen Absent:' None.
READING OF YMMES OF PREVIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 15th day of`July, 1936,
were read. No errors or omi8sione appearing,,it was moved by Councilman
Love, seconded by Councilman Selby', that the minutes be, approved as read.
Carried.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS-
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:

DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND POWER OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES,•dated July 21,
1936, requesting the Council to reconsider said Departments petition filed
on or about May 13, 1936, for a permit and the right to cohstruct, operate
and maintain a 33,000 volt electric light and power transmission line within

the City of E1 Segundo, upon and,across Sepulveda Boulevard, Ikariposa Avenue,
Center Street and Imperial Highway.
After brief discussion, it Was moved by Councilman Hesser, seconded by

Councilman Selby, that the matter be taken under advisement until the next
regular meeting of this Council.. Carried. "
GEORGE MAHLON GREEN, dated Jail v 20th, 1.936 requesting that the Council
reconsider its action taken at its regular meeting held,July 15th, and permit
him to continue to take delivery of City of El Segundo garbage.
Mr. Green was present,at the Council meeting,and addressed the Council
relative to the matters and was. advised that he will be given an knawer at a
,
later date, and the Street Superintendent was instructed to make an investigation
,
concerning the hog ranch of Mr.,Green and.of F�rogge & Willis, who have made an
offer to purchase.garbage from the City of El Segundo,.
FINKELSTEINIS, dated Julyr.18th, 1936, offering for.sale'. certain sizes of
w
galvanised fencing, used and reconditioned pipe, valves and fittings, as well
as structural reinforcing and plate steel. Ordered filed...
THE BERGER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, dated July 20th, 1936, soliciting an
opportunity to install steel shelving in the proposed new public library building.

.. FEDERAL EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC WORK$y dated July 18th, peep
bearing the subject "Bronze Tablets ", contai_ ning instav with respect to
design, wording and sire of lettering which is pkrmitp4d on tablets used upon
public structures in connection with the construction of which the Federal
Government has.made a grant. Ordered filed. _
J. L. POMEROY, M. D., Los Angeles County Health Officer, dated July 16th,
1936, requesting the 'adoption by the City of E1 Segundo of an emergency
ordinance for the control of -the transportation, distribution and sale of milk,
cream or dairy products for human consumption within the City of El Segundo.
The letter was ordered filed and no specific action taken..

S. V. CORTELYOII, District Engineer of the Division of Highways'of the
State of California, dated July 20th, 1936, requesting information as to the
negotiations now in progress between the City of El Segundo and the City of
Los Angeles respecting the installation of traffic control signals at Imperial-
Highway and Sepulveda Boulevard. The communication was ordered filed and the
City Clerk instructed to make proper response thereto.
LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, its•Bulletin No. 7, dated July,
1936, entitled: "Suggested Traffic'Ordinance for California Cities ". By general
consent the report was referred to the Chief of Police for examination and for
the a6lection therefrom of such appropriate provisions as might be included in a
traffic ordinance now in course of preparation in the office of the City
Attorney.
LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, its Municipal Purchasing Bulletin
No. 12 giving comparative commodity costs to cities of the States of Oregon and
California, First Quarter of 1936. Ordered filed.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS.
Mrs. Harold Spence'addressed the Council relative to charge for water
furnished premises occupied by heraelf and another family. It appearing that
the charge made was in accordance with the rifles and regulations governing the
operation of the Water Department of the City of E1 Segundo, no official
action was taken.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES.*
Mr. Lester Luce; acting for Clyde Woodworth, City Attorney, reported
that the Attorney's office is ready to present for consideration a form of
traffic ordinance for the City of El Segundo. In view of the submission by
the League of California Municipalities of a suggested form of uniform traffic
ordinance for California cities, action was deferred pending a study of the
form submitted by said League and the matter was, by general consent, referred
to the traffic committee of the Council for consideration and recommendation.

No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Hesser, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
